Lyle Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Hi Pete I'm triying to obtimize my network settings on my simulator. In particular I have problems with my PM MCP, I'm after a few minutes of flying after I change the speed, altitude, etc I get no response an the numbers do not change or they go back to the way they where. Can you please help me. these are my ini an log files client ini ; PLEASE SEE WideFS documentation for parameter details ; ===================================================== [Config] UseTCPIP=yes Window=32000,32000,112,27 Visible=Yes Timeout=0 ServerIPAddr=192.168.0.80 ; ----------------------------------------------- [user] Log=Errors+ ; =============================================== client log ********* WideClient.DLL Log [version 6.10] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 19/09/03, Time 19:32:01.937: Client name is EICAS 78 Attempting to connect now 94 Connection made okay! 7656 New Client Application: "PMSounds" (Id=460) 11609 New Client Application: "pfd" (Id=624) 18344 New Client Application: "MCP" (Id=948) 641375 Note: Send() request depth is over 100! 649703 send() failed [0 bytes] after 40 retries, request depth is 478 649703 Ready to try connection again 649703 Attempting to connect now 649719 Connection made okay! server ini ; PLEASE SEE the documentation for parameter details ; ================================================== [Config] ;Port=8002 UseTCPIP=yes ;ServerIPAddr=192.168.0.80 autoupdatetime=13 Restarttime=100 MaximumBlock=5096 ; ----------------------------------------------- [user] Log=Errors+ ; =============================================== sever log ********* WideServer.DLL Log [version 6.10] ********* Using blocksize guide of 5096 bytes Date (dmy): 19/09/03, Time 19:42:58.014: Server name is FS2004 71125 Initialising server socket now 94891 Incoming connection Accepted ok (skt=2196) 94953 Connected to computer "PFD" (skt=2196) 115328 Incoming connection Accepted ok (skt=2168) 115391 Connected to computer "EICAS" (skt=2168) 137157 Incoming connection Accepted ok (skt=2152) 137219 Connected to computer "CDU" (skt=2152) 764953 Client socket disconnected at Client: removing (skt=2168) 765000 Incoming connection Accepted ok (skt=2160) 765016 Connected to computer "EICAS" (skt=2160) thank you very much Lyle
Pete Dowson Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I'm triying to obtimize my network settings on my simulator. In particular I have problems with my PM MCP, I'm after a few minutes of flying after I change the speed, altitude, etc I get no response an the numbers do not change or they go back to the way they where. Sounds like the MCP program is hung or going wrong. Why are you blaming your network? Have you checked with Project Magenta support. I'm sure they'd be able to help a lot more than I. They certainly help me a lot! Can you please help me. these are my ini an log files Please leave most things to default, unless you really know they are beneficial. For instance, delete: Timeout=0 in the Clients, and autoupdatetime=13 Restarttime=100 MaximumBlock=5096 in the Server. 641375 Note: Send() request depth is over 100! 649703 send() failed [0 bytes] after 40 retries, request depth is 478 649703 Ready to try connection again 649703 Attempting to connect now 649719 Connection made okay! This isn't terribly good -- you are getting some sort of blockage from the Client to the Server. However, if it doesn't occur too often then it shouldn't be a big problem -- it recovered, so all you should see is a temporary stutter, or a few. In the Server: 764953 Client socket disconnected at Client: removing (skt=2168) 765000 Incoming connection Accepted ok (skt=2160) 765016 Connected to computer "EICAS" (skt=2160) you can clearly see that the reconnection only took a matter of milliseconds. There would be a short period of sluggishness whilst the data is refreshed, but nothing major. If you are getting these blockages often I would say you need to check your network -- try swapping the interface cards, or even cables. I think it was our Mr. Schiratti himself who had such problems and eventually replaced the cables nd all was well. Amazing. But the logs you show don't really explain the problem you describe, only a passing problem. That is something else. The logs might imply one set of stutters, that's all, possibly a lost input but even that should recover.. Regards, Pete
Lyle Posted September 20, 2003 Author Report Posted September 20, 2003 Well Pete.... Your replay made me think about cables, RJ45 and NETWORK CARDS... my PM MCP was the only computer running on a 3COM NIC’s, I thought I had change all those cards. I found these cards to be quite BAD for networking computers for FS. Now I have much cleaner log files, now it is time to do more experimenting on it. Hopefully this will fix my shutters and pauses… Thank you very much Lyle
