kierano Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 Hello, I bought myself a Saitek X55 rhino HOTAS the other day and had issues mapping the various switches to change the autopilot settings. As a result I went and bought FSUIPC (the current version from sim market). I have trawled through Google but cannot find out the answer to the following question - how can I map a switch on the controller to change the autopilot altitude by say 1000 feet, or the mcp speed by 1 knot? I would like to be able to hold the switch to keep increasing the altitude or speed, but cannot fathom which setting within FSUIPC it is that I need to assign to said switch. Please help, and apologies for any irregularities with spelling - I'm using my phone and autocorrect sometimes takes over....!

Using INC and DEC controls, whether a value increases or descreases by 1 or 10 or 100 or 1000 depends entirely on how it is programmed in the aircraft gauge itself. To increment or decrement by a defined amount you'd need a little program to read the current value, change it and write it back. That can be done with a Lua plug-in to FSUIPC, but this sort of thing is seldom needed. If you merely want the INC or DEC to repeat whilst the switch or button is held on, just select the option to repeat in the button assignments tab. There's no need to "trawl through Google" when FSUIPC comes with full documentation for you, installed in the FSUIPC Documents subfolder. Did you not even look? Pete
kierano Posted September 4, 2015 Author Report Posted September 4, 2015 Hi Pete, Thanks for the information. With regards to the documentation, the download came with the installer and only the pdf containing the installation instructions, hence the need for me to "trawl through google". I'm assuming a lua/Linda plug-in will be needed for the new aerosoft airbus a320/321, or can I program this directly through FSUIPC? Regards, Kieran
Pete Dowson Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 With regards to the documentation, the download came with the installer and only the pdf containing the installation instructions, hence the need for me to "trawl through google". But the Installation document lists the documents and other goodies you get, and does actually tell you where they are!! Why not look at that? I'm assuming a lua/Linda plug-in will be needed for the new aerosoft airbus a320/321, or can I program this directly through FSUIPC? No idea, I'm afraid, but most sophisticated add-on aircraft do their own thing and need some special attention, whether mouse macros, Local Variable (LVar) assignments or, yes, possibly Lua plug-ins.
