Hi Pete,

First, thank you very for producing such a wonderful utility.  Without it, I would not be able to build my 2-seater 737 cockpit (all controls from both yoke, pedals, throttle cards, 2040 card etc go thru your interface, joysticks are disabled in the sim - P3D v3)!!!

Now, my sim crashes after ~ 3 hrs (trying JFK->SFO run)...  It just suddenly crashes to desktop.  I am trying to narrow things down, and exploring multiple avenues at the same time.  Not saying there is anything wrong with FSUIPC, but there is this error in the log right around the time of crash, and I am wondering if you can shed some light on that:

The log starts as:

I wonder if these Hook Errors due to fact that sim crashed, or something else.

Let me know if you need more info!

P.S.  There is no crash info in the windows event log!

You've cut out the most important parts of the log!!!. After the Joystick scanning there's a sections which confirms all the hooks are placed correctly. I need to see at least that -- in fact all the way to where it should say "starting everything" or similar.

And the last lines in the log are:

 11161060 KEYUP: VK=18, Waiting=0
 11209920 JoystickValues PCnum=0, dwCount=1, data[2]={000000aa 02040a08}

You seem to have enabled some extortionate amount of logging there! I'd disable most of the logging options unless you are really looking for something specific amongst it all.

Those two Hook Error's should not actually be possible after the initialisation part (which you omitted), as they only get done the once when fSUIPC is doing the hooking. If they occurred hours into a flight I don't know what to make of it.

Also, please update to the current version, 4.947c (or better 4,947d).

Here is more of the log if that will help... Couldn't atttach the whole thing :(

Yes I've turned the buttons logging on as I wanted to make sure I dont have a sticky button anywhere...

Will update the FSUIPC as well.

BTW, here is another data point... I was going JFK -> SFO, and crashed roughly 1000 nm from SFO.  I then decided to try the same route in the opposite direction (currently in progress), and placed myself at SFO as starting point... And immediately realized that I've forgotten to register the SFO HD scenery (via couatl).  I then registered the scenery the started the flight, soon to apporach the rough area of scenery where I've crashed.

I wonder if because of the un-registered scenery I had the crash... My logic here (could be faulty) is that P3D pre-fetches the scenery ahead, and the prefetch failed... Quite a stretch probably given the airport was 1000 nm away, but hey.

I should be passing over the place where I've crashed before in about 40 mins, so will see if the crash related to some bad scenery object in that area.

Thx

Update:

The sim continued just fine until the Top Of Descent, then as I've started descend it crashed (2 mins after starting one)...  I was ~100 miles out from JFK...

Same errors in the FSUIPC log.

I've updated the FSUIPC to the latest (4.947c)... I've downloaded the latest file from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html...It contained the "c" version.. Where do I get the "d" ver?

Thx!

Here is more of the log if that will help... Couldn't atttach the whole thing :(

No, I wasn't asking for the whole thing. This part:

     1466 -------------------------------------------------------------------
1466 ------ Setting the hooks and direct calls into the simulator ------
1466 --- CONTROLS timer memory location obtained ok
     1466 --- SIM1 Frictions access gained
1466 --- FS Controls Table located ok
1466 --- Installed Mouse Macro hooks ok.
1466 --- Wind smoothing fix is installed
1466 --- All links checked okay
     1466 -------------------------------------------------------------------

shows all the "hooks" put in place, during initialisation, as they should be. The "HOOK ERRORS" recorded later can't happen according to normal logic because the hooks are already done in this item:

1466 --- Wind smoothing fix is installed

So, I think something really must have gone rather weird and somehow some part "jumped" to the wrong address in the wrong module. that implies some sort of corruption, or execution of data as code. Those often give "BEX" (butter overflow exception) errors. You haven't followed some of the bad advice on the Web which suggests turning the data execution protection off to avoid getting such errors, have you?

Going back, this intrigues me:

P.S.  There is no crash info in the windows event log!

What sort of "crash" was it? I don't know of any crash which doesn't provide some information. yu don't really mean a hang, or freeze, do you?

I've updated the FSUIPC to the latest (4.947c)... I've downloaded the latest file from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html...It contained the "c" version.. Where do I get the "d" ver?

All my software, including interim updates, is available in the Download Links subforum here. The Schiratti site is not actualy mine.

I think there's some other problem or corruption in your system which is causing this "crash" (or whatever it actually is -- I think you need to go into more details). You might need to start on a process of elimination -- stop all add-ons running then add them back one at a time, testing between each.

Thanks Pete,

1. Found and download the "d" version, will install... No wonder my wife tells me that I am blind :)

2. I didn't explicitely turned off DEP, but I will go and verify.  This is rather brand-spanking new PC (DELL) with Win7.

3. Will start elimination process...  I am doing another test right now - just a short flight from CYUL to KJFK, to see if it is an approach to COUATL-managed airport that causes the issues... COUATL is known for weird behavior.  Both SFO and JFK add-on sceneries I have are COUATL-managed.
