Hello there Pete from Italy.

I have recently come to encounter some spikes that have never come to my simulation before. I have CH propedals (gameport), Saitek x45 USB and CH fsy (three lever) USB. They have worked perfectly and still are even if a lot of people say that USB and gameport device don't mix up well. Recently I've come to some strange behaviour of the aircraft in FS2004 but I have to say only in cruise attitude and not in other phase of flight. I read that your module has a spike suppressor on it and was wondering if that was useful to solve my problem. I read that you suggested to look for the cause on pots or spray for the phisical cure to the input device. So my question? is there a way to check if the joystick produces a spike out of FS9? That way I can check if the spike is coming from panels (only in fs9) as you say or from the joystick. In fact if the spike is repeating in the game controller calibration windows of xp (btw I have xp pro) so I'm sure a bad pot is to be replaced (or something else to be done)

Hope to read from you soon.

my bests for your job

I don't think it will. The spike suppression was specifically programmed to get rid of apparent software bugs in certain well-known popular panels -- they seem to deliberately sent maximum deflection controls on occasion. It isn't a hardware thing. If you are getting spikes with the default panels then it is likely to be a bad pot, bad connections, or some sort of interference.

If it is doing it in the default panels, then it isn't the panels. If it is frequent enough you should be able to see it in the Windows Game Controllers calibration.

If the pot is spiking your could try using Lithium grease.

I had big spiking problems with the pots on my Logitech MOMO steering wheel

I sprayed the pot with electrical contact cleaner, which worked for only a day or so then the spiking returned.

I then got a spray can of Lithium grease and used that, it worked great , wheel is perfect six months on.

Thank you John for your advice. I still have to figure out wheter the spikes are coming from hardware or software. As mentioned, the software is FS2004 which is known to have bugs once in a while.

As soon as I check it out, I'll try to use the Lithium stuff you mentioned even if I can buy for some bucks the same pot directly to CH to have it replaced completely by the same.....

Thank you
