ozzyneil Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 Hi, Can't seem to figure out how to assign the flaps switch on my warthog so that it behaves like the F6 and F7 keyboard buttons. If i tap F6 it moves one notch but if i hold it it moves all the way. Now if i try that with my flaps button it either moves i notch at a time which i have to turn on and off or i can set it to press once and it fully retracts. What i would like is to flick it on and off for one notch as well as being able to flick the button on and hold so it fully retracts. Basically so when i've landed i just flick the switch up and the flaps fully retract instead of having to flick it on and off three time. I have tried key press assignment as well as FS control Is this a warthog flap button problem or am i missing something in FSUIPC. Hope you can help. Thanks, Neil

Just assign to "Flaps Decr" for F6 action, and "Flaps Incr" for F7 action, with the Repeat option checked. Those two controls are exactly what F6 and F7 are asssigned to by default. The repeat action on the keyboard is controlled by the keyboard. In the case of button repeats it is FSUIPC which does it, and the rate is actrually settable in the FSUIPC4.INI file -- but the default should be fine. And, as for the keyboard, it doesn't start repeating till you've held the button/switch on for a bit, so you can still do single increments and decrements. Pete
ozzyneil Posted February 27, 2016 Author Report Posted February 27, 2016 Hi Pete thx for the reply, i managed to get it working but noticed i have to be really quick with the switch so that it doesnt stay on. So i will adjust the rate in the FSUIPC4.INI file as you suggested. thx again. Neil.
Pete Dowson Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 Hi Pete thx for the reply, i managed to get it working but noticed i have to be really quick with the switch so that it doesnt stay on. So i will adjust the rate in the FSUIPC4.INI file as you suggested. The "ButtonRepeat" parameter in the main [buttons] section has two parameters -- repeat rate, and number of repeats to miss before starting. Default is 20,10, so 20 repeats per second after half a second delay. You probably only want to change the second value. Note that these parameters are global -- they affect ALL button assignments. ozzyneil Posted February 27, 2016 Author Report Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) yep thx pete i read the advanced manual and found that 20,50 works great but i will monitor my other buttons to see if it affects them too much. cheers. is there a chance in the future for individual repeat rates or is that not possible. Pete Dowson Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 is there a chance in the future for individual repeat rates or is that not possible. It's quite a lot of work to make changes to very VERY old code (button assignments date back to FS2000 at least). Quite honestly there simply isn't demand to justify this, and possibly introduce new bugs as a result of changing code I've mostly forgotten. Pete
