speedbird144 Posted December 14, 2016 Report Posted December 14, 2016 Good day all. I know it was answered before but I am bit confused what changes I have to make in my INI file. Here is what was suggested from post several years ago: “The best way to use FSUIPC like this is to switch to Profiles. Go into the INI file and change "UseProfiles=No" to Yes. Also change "ShortAircraftNameOk=No" to Substring. The latter enables you to abbreviate names to get automatic assignment for aircraft with the same names bar liveries.” I already have in INI file - ShortAircraftNameOk=Substring and UseProfiles=Yes in INI file. “…then change the name of the aircraft, where it appears in the settings titles (like [buttons.<name>], [Axes.<name>] etc, to a short form which identifies the whole group of aircraft -- such as "737" or "PMDG 737" or whatever.” This is where I got stuck. Do I understand correctly if I have string like: 1=Boeing 737-824NGX United Airlines (Merger) Winglets does it meant I have to change it to 1=Boeing 737-824NGX Winglets or just to 1=Boeing 737 NG Winglets? Some lines already shown like [Axes.PMDG 737] ... [Profile.default 737] ... [Axes.default 737] etc. I am not sure what names/line I have to change to apply same settings to all PMDG 737 NG (and if possible to PMDG 777) liveries. Some lines already shown like [Axes.PMDG 737] ... [Profile.default 737] ... [Axes.default 737] etc. What are you actually trying to o? If you want all 737's to use the same settings, you can simply have one line in the [Profile. ...] section sayin "1=737". Then any aircraft with 737 in the name will use that profile. i.e. exactly what it says in tthe instructions you quoted, 'such as "737" ' Only the [Profile ...] sections define which aircraft fit that profile. the [Axes ... ] are axis assignments made in the named profile, same for Buttons, Keys and JoystickCalibrations. Quote I am not sure what names/line I have to change to apply same settings to all PMDG 737 NG (and if possible to PMDG 777) liveries. For all 737s and all 777s you'd need two lines 1=737 2=777 It seems you think it is more complicated than it really is. it is actually quite simple. if an aircraft contains the text you give in the [Profiles. ...] section, anywhere in its name, then that named profile will be used for it. It it doesn't it won't. Simple as that. Pete
speedbird144 Posted December 15, 2016 Author Report Posted December 15, 2016 Thank you Pete. Yes, I want all 737 use the same settings. I will try to make changes as suggested.
speedbird144 Posted December 24, 2016 Author Report Posted December 24, 2016 Hello back. So suggested advise above works! I'd like to ask a question regarding Macros. Read the manual and no luck to assign switches. My first issue is when I click an a switch or button in VC I see green window appears with white text. Test via Tab button does not work. I think. When I hit Tab button the mouse cursor changes to a hand but the switch or button in VC doesn't. From manual: "If Tab does not work, then look in the data window for a little label in the form “(n of n)”—for example “(1 of 4)”. I cannot find that Window to check "n of n". Nothing changes in green window either. Another thing. When I try to assign a switch or button and when I click on it then green window start flickering. I have to move the mouse around VC to stop it. When I tried to give a name for the command it appears in FSUIPC and if I assign it, it does not work. Definitely something is not right. Thanks

As the manual also says, that will only appear if it works, but there are more variations you can assign. On 12/24/2016 at 6:23 AM, speedbird144 said: Another thing. That must be a function of the way that VC is coded, or an interaction with your video drivers. It is certainly nothing in FSUIPC. You already tested it by TAB and proved it will not work! Pete
