P3Dv3.3.5 doesn't start with FSUIPC v4.965

Recommended Posts

This is so unfortunate, P3Dv3.3.5 doesn't start with FSUIPC v4.965.

Pete, could you fix it or it's unfixable? P3Dv3.4 hf3 is horrible vs P3Dv3.3.5 in managing VAS.

Is it due to some changes you introduced to handle input devices, like you intended to in v4.962+ (or close to it?) but cancelled that time?

Thanks,

Igor.

PS: I checked by disabling FSUIPC.dll in DLL.XML --> P3Dv3.3.5 launches OK

with absolutely zero information provided I can't possibly help. Where's the log file? In what way doesn't is start? Is there a Windows crash log?

There's no way I can guess these things. I have to have information to work from!

There's no way anything to do with input devices will "crash" P3Dless you have a rogue device driver which would crash in any case. And FSUIPC's actions won't be any different for version 3.3.5 to any other version. The changes from version to version are to do with internals, direct access to P3D internal functions, and those for 3.3.5 would have been frozen ever since its release.

Sounds like there's hope then!

Ok, I'll send you the logs like you taught me about a month earlier, just need to search that thread on the forum.

Igor.

PS: the P3D just hangs up at launch at P3D Splash window.

Modifications you intended didn't work in Win10 x64 as I remember now.

Yes, that version was withdrawn because of the Win10 bugs in the DirectX code. One day I hope to revisit that -- maybe MS will get around to fixing them one day.

However, the subsequent releases to improve Joystick treatment were essentially building on the original code, just doing things in a different order, really.

PS: the P3D just hangs up at launch at P3D Splash window.

Without making an FSUIPC log file? If so, then FSUIPC was not even running.

The log you posted above clearly shows successful Joystick device scans, but later shows:

Quote

    32907 Exception 5 "VERSION_MISMATCH", Ref 1, Version 3.0: Open: SimConnect Version incorrect!

which is never recovered. It seems your version of P3D installed on Windows 10 is corrupt -- that message is returned by SimConnect on the attempt by FSUIPC to connect with it. I really don't know any other possible cause except corruption,

You could try installing the FSX/SP2 or ACC version of SimConnect and removing the SimConnectP3D3.DLL file from the Modules folder. That might be a workaround. But I would have thought you could have problems in the future anyway with other SimConnect applications compiled specifically for P3D (as opposed to transported from FSX).

Of you crash reports you submitted, this one

53 minutes ago, Sabrefly said:

Source:        .NET Runtime

is not at all related to FSUIPC. There's no .NET code associated with FSUIPC or the SimConnect interface it uses. The other one cites:

55 minutes ago, Sabrefly said:

Faulting module name: SimConnectP3D3.dll, version: 3.4.22.19868, time

which is the DLL I supply which uses the L-M supplied SimConnect library to interface directly into P3D's SimConnect -- the call it makes to start that process is the one failing repeatedly according to the log.

You could also try going back to the P3D3.0 version of my SimConnectP3D3.DLL -- link

SimConnectP3D30.zip

just use that in the Modules folder instead of the SimConnectP3D3.DLL which is there.

But if that works it really only confirms something is very wrong with the P3D installation, because it is only designed for 3.0-3.1. Things changed in 3.2 onwards which made that one crash. And I think that will be the most likely result -- a different crash, but a consistent one.

If you do end up using it, remember to save it and reinstall it after any future FSUIPC update.

In the end it might be much easier to perform a reinstalltion. You might only need to reinstall the client, which is pretty painless and avoids any reinstalling of other add-ons.

Pete

Ok, here's my current work around:

Having gone through the logs I didn't like SimConnectP3D3.dll (version: 3.4.22.19868 not sure how it got there?) so I decided to drop in a previous version 3.0.0.13948 of SimConnectP3D3.dll. With this version FSUIPC v4.965 starts ok!!

Please explain

Thanks.

I was posting my findings when I saw you posted, almost at the same time.

I have no idea, when did SimConnectP3D3.dll, version: 3.4.22.19868, come along?

I keep my Acronis copies of P3D folder, so I can trace back in time.

Igor.

Ok,  If you could tell me when you added this specific version 4.22.19868 to FSUIPC installation (version number?) replacing version 3.0.0.13948 then I would figure out what could have gone wrong with my P3D install/update (if it really went wrong at all) at some point.

Thanks,

Igor.

I would like to thank you guys for helping me solve this problem!

I was flying my PMDG 737 earlier and when I exited the sim and tried to re-enter it would not even start and it just sat by idling in the Task Manager, I had thought all was lost and I would have to delete 230gb of data on my SSD dedicated ONLY to P3D and then a few hours later I found this after I was about to give up.

Why would it have randomly done this?

Thanks guys

Never mind, I now have a couple of problems I have not had before, now I have some weird mouse stuttering like when I move the mouse it moves at a low fps, and Ezdok now has been jacked up and views are changing I guess the default P3D way instead...

Where can I get a file for the latest FSUIPC?

Thanks

Pete, I reinstalled P3Dv3.3.5 client then removed all files from Modules folder and installed the very recent FSUIPC v4.964 (made 1st March 2017) full intaller.

I found that FSUIPC v4.964 installer still put in SimConnectP3D v3.0.0.13948 file.

So SimConnectP3D v3.4.22.19868 in FSUIPC appeared very recently and was intended (most probably) for P3Dv3.4 hf3.

I tried P3Dv3.4 hf3 with FSUIPC v4.965 (SimConnectP3D v3.4.22.19868) and it works. Unfortunately handling of VAS by P3Dv3.4 hf3 is very much inferior to P3Dv3.3.5, whereas occupied blocks of VAS don't get released like they do in P3Dv3.3.5.

So, like you wrote, I'll need to use SimConnectP3D v3.0.0.13948 with your further versions of FSUIPC.

Also, there is nothing seemingly wrong with my P3D installation. Just SimConnectP3D v3.4.22.19868 was intended for the latest version of P3Dv3.4 as seen above.

Thanks,

Igor.

Have you tried the one I gave you a link to yet? Please do that. If that one works better with your 3.3 I will alter the Installer to install that one instead. But as far as I know, the part of the interface I am using changed from 3.2. It was with 3.2 that problems were reported. 3.4 has the same interface as 3.2 as far as FSUIPC usage is concerned.

If you try the older version and it works, then I know where to look. If it doesn't, it is a different problem. That was the point of me providing you the link!

[LATER]

Just saw the earlier message saying you'd tried it as requested! See my next message.

Right. Something is a bit odd then. I've got something to go on. It would be useful, please, to see the good log.

I'll probasbly not be able to get to this till next week now. Grossly overladed at present, and in the meanwhile you are up and running ...

Pete, honestly I didn't even try that file you posted abouve, I just downloded it, checked the version and saw that I had the same one from my previous backups, and it is working with both v4.964 and v4.965.

Thanks,

Igor.

Ah. That's interesting! Thanks. I'll have to look at exactly what the Installer is doing. It shouldn't have changed that part.

Next week ...

The latest FSUIPC is obtained in the normal places, of ocurse, on the Schiratti site pointed to by the SimMarket links, and here in the Download Links subforum.

You should have started a new thread.

The latest FSUIPC is obtained in the normal places, of ocurse, on the Schiratti site pointed to by the SimMarket links, and here in the Download Links subforum.

You should have started a new thread.

Pete

I installed the latest version and now my simulator won't open, it shows the Lockheed Martin P3D screen then windows says the program quit working, but the version that I installed that you listed above caused weird mouse stutters and stutters in the sim, it also messed with Ezdok for some reason.

Do you have any idea as to what my problem is?

What infuriates me is that I was literally flying in my sim last night, exited it to restart another flight and clear the VAS for it, clicked on the P3D.exe and it owuldnt even show the splash screen, I then use the link above after searching for hours to fix this and new problems arise, I then use the new FSUIPC download and now the sim starts but goes no further than the splash screen... this is why I hate software and work with hardware.
