arnonmoscona Posted May 29, 2017 Author Report Posted May 29, 2017 Well, unfortunately version p crashes FSX on start without leaving a log or creating an ini (tried with existing ini or without one - same results). Does not leave a crash report on the system logs either. I am getting pretty close to start the installation process of this machine from scratch. If I go that route it will take several weeks to get to the point I am now, and I only have a couple of hours a week that I can work on it. This long weekend was completely burned on trying to resolve the problems and I am now in a worse condition than I started with and I don't even know how to get it half stable again.
Pete Dowson Posted May 29, 2017 Report Posted May 29, 2017 7 hours ago, arnonmoscona said: I can tell you that it still fails when exiting a flight That's actually the strangest thing, because exiting a flight really isn't something which provokes any action in FSUIPC. It's barely detected, only as a "STOP" event from SimConnect, which is optionally logged. Also, you said the crash on exit now occurs in 4.966c -- so what's changed? And 4.966c is in use on thousands of users systems. I'd have surely heard a lot more if it were an FSUIPC bug. It would be useful to know what happened on yur system to change a program's behaviour like that. Apart from corruption on disk on hardware deterioration or other changes can do that. Pete

That just has to be down to a crash on a previous closedown. You need to re-run the installer then, without running FS, copy in the updated copy. The ONLY change between 4.966n and 4.966p is the longging of crashes when releasing the devices at the end of the session. I am now thinking that if this isn't down to joystick drivers, your FSX installation is corrupted. There have been a number of cases where a complete re-install was the answer. You say: 7 hours ago, arnonmoscona said: I am getting pretty close to start the installation process of this machine from scratch. If I go that route it will take several weeks to get to the point I am now but that cannot be true. You are using FSX-SE and reinstalling that is easy andvquick. You can start with only reinstalling FSX-SE, not all of your add-ons. Just leave them where theyare. Maybe save the ProgramData and AppData/Roaming files for FSX-SE (I always make a copy of those in any case, right after installation). I have around 600 scenery layers and a similar number of DLL and EXE add-ons to you, plus a load of stuff to do with a hardware 737 cockpit, ad all this for both FSX-SE and P3D3 (and now 4) and a complete reinstall, on a new PC with a virgin Windows 7, took me less than three days recently. Pete
arnonmoscona Posted May 29, 2017 Author Report Posted May 29, 2017 Thanks Pete - for your patience and knowledge. So I have reinstalled fsuipc, replaced the DLL, restarted the machine, and thankfully it did not crash on start. The crash on exiting a flight is still there. Following is the log. Note that the machine is brand new and functions pretty much perfectly other than these problems. So I wouldn't attribute this to the machine. As for changes - in the last couple of days - aside from only tinkering with fsuipc, the only change was that at some point I uninstalled FSRecorder. Nothing else besides that. As for the time it takes to reinstall - if it takes you 3 days, and I have an average of two hours a week to deal with this - then simple math shows that it would take me several weeks at the very least. I know - because I just went through it with this machine, which I started setting up at the end of April, and only now got close to finished when this problem hit me. arnonmoscona Posted May 29, 2017 Author Report Posted May 29, 2017 Oh, another thing that changed was the removal of the RXP dll from dll.xml I can try to reverse that to see if it makes a difference.
arnonmoscona Posted May 29, 2017 Author Report Posted May 29, 2017 So since it's morning, and the things I tinkered with were FSRecorder and a GPS related entry in dll.xml, I wend ahead and reinstalled FSRecorder and both my working GPS products (Flight1 GNS750 and Flight1 GTN 530). Now the crash on exit seems to be gone. Haven't had the chance yet to check the fsuipc functionality. I am being interrupted, so it may take an hour before I can go back into it. But things seem better right now. Another question: what exactly gets cleared by reinstalling fsuipc? Is it something I can do manually? Thanks Arnon
arnonmoscona Posted May 29, 2017 Author Report Posted May 29, 2017 I take it back somewhat. It worked until I rebooted. Then crashed on start again. It seems that every time I reboot, I have to reinstall fsuipc, replace the DLL. and then I am stable again. I can get in and out of FSX as much as I want and stays stable. As soon as I reboot, back to square one. delete dll, reinstall, replace dll. Here is the dll.xml in this semi-stable setup: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>dll.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Addon Manager</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>bglmanx.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>ObjectFlow.dll</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS\Scenery\ObjectFlow.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Object Placement Tool</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Visual Effects Tool</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>A2A Feel</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Modules\A2A_Feel.dll</Path> <DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName> <DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>AccuFeelMenu</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>Modules\AccuFeelMenu.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Mindstar Hypergauge</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>Modules\HyperGauge.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Flight Recorder</Name> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>Aerosoft\Flight Recorder\AS-FlightRecorder.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Reality XP GNS WAAS Hardware</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>Modules\rxpGnsDriver.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Dx10Fixer interface</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>C:\SteveFx\DX10 Scenery Fixer\Libraries\dx10SimC.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon><Name>FS Recorder</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\FS Recorder for FSX\FSRecorder_FSX.dll</Path></Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>as_connect</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>as_srv\as_btstrp.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document> Arnon
arnonmoscona Posted May 29, 2017 Author Report Posted May 29, 2017 OK. I have to wrap this up for the weekend. I will only be able to get back to this on June 17th or later.

I suspect it is only 0 because that's the first. For some reason it doesn't like free up the joysticks before termination, which is rather odd. I can try removing that which may fix the crash on termination, but I'd be worried about what then happens if the joysticks are scanned again when one of them is reconnected, or you enter one of the joystick tabs in the options (FSUIPC rescns then too, to make sure its up to date for assignments. I'll experiment here. 24 minutes ago, arnonmoscona said: OK. I have to wrap this up for the weekend. I will only be able to get back to this on June 17th or later. Wow! I'm away from the 15th to the 20th. I'll work on it anyway. Do look for a later version on your return. Pete
