I am using FSUIPC  Version 4.974 with FSX SE and Fly inside. When I try to start the program using either FSX or Flyinside I get the following message :  Flight simulator has detected a problem with a 3rd party software program(add-on)

Name FSUIPC 4

Version: 4.974

Company Peter L Dowson

File:  Modules\FSUIPC4.dll

Do you want to run this software (not recommended)

To avoid seeing this message in the future, uninstall this program or disable it's ability to start when running Flight Simulator. For mor information about third party programs, contact the publisher or see http:\www.fsinsider.com.

I have followed the above recommendations but no joy.  Can you help me please?

My OS is Windows 10, Intel i7, 16 GB RAM.

Thanks

The recommendation to uninstall or disable FSUIPC? So, without FSUIPC you still can't run FSX-SE? In that case it isn't really FSUIPC which is the problem. It cannot be if it isn't running.

No Pete if I uninstall or disable FSUIPC the FSX runs just fine,  Sorry if I didn't mention that.

It was just that you said "I have followed the above recommendations but no joy.", and the "recommendation" appeared t be not to run FSUIPC, or uninstall it.

If you mean FSX-sE crashes or hangs if you allow FSUIPC to run, then please check whether there is an FSUIPC4.LOG file or fragment produced. That is needd if so. There are several known causes of this problem, and the log will decide which, I hope. Just paste it in a message here.

Hi Pete: I reinstalled FSUICP4 then started FSX through FlyinsideFSX and got the same prob lem.  The FSUIPC4 log is attached.  I believe this problem may have first showed up after and update of Flyinside fsx.

Cheers

The log shows a normal startup and a normal termination, user instigated, after about 50 seconds from the flight and aircraft starting to load. no errors are shown and certainly nothing crashes.

So, it doesn't actually match the statement that FSX-SE "doesn't start". Can you describe what really happens please? What do you see on screen?

Also, please look in the windows "Event Viewer" application logs to see if there are any relevant (i.e. time-wise relating to your problem) crash reports referring to FSX_SE. If so I'd like to see the details please. You can copy and paste them here.

Also, in your FSX.CFG file, find the section [Trusted] and search that for "Modules\FSUIPC4.dll". This will be followed by a long sequence of apparently random  characters then an = followed by a number. that should be 1. Change it if it isn't. There might be more than one entry, so carry on searching.

Hi Pete.  Whenever I started fsx from the flyinside fsx program it said that the fsuipc4.dll caused problems and it gave me a choice to continue with or without fsuipc4.  I had selected no.  Today I tried yes and it took a while to start but it did.  Now it starts and runs perfectly.

Sorry for the confusion

Hi

I have started getting the same message when I start FSX-SE

"Flight simulator has detected a problem with a 3rd party software program(add-on)

Version: 4.974

Company Peter L Dowson

File:  Modules\FSUIPC4.dll

If I select Yes FSX closes if I select No FSX opens.

I have checked and there is no FSUIPC log file for today.

When I check the event log there is an error related to AFX

FSUIPC doesn't use AFXModuleFSX.dll which is where the problem is actually occurring. Looking at your DLL.XML:

<Launch.Addon>
    <Name>AFXModule</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\AFX\AFXModuleFSX.dll</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>

So, the module is loaded ahead of FSUIPC and starts doing its stuff before FSUIPC gets to fully initialise. It then crashes, because of the problem as stated, but Windows blames FSUIPC because it was the last module loaded.

As a test just try renaming your DLL.XML to, say, DLL.XML passive, then run the FSUIPC Installer. Test then (you might need to load twice or more to clear Windows marking FSUIPC as bad.

Then try re-instating the original DLL.XML, but for a first test change the

<Disabled>False</Disabled>

line for AFXModuleFSX.dll to True.

Test again. Only then re-enable AFXModuleFSX.dll. If you still then get problems I think you may need to re-install whatever it is that nstalled and uses AFXModuleFSX.

Hi Pete,

Many thanks for the prompt reply.

So I renamed the DLL.XML to DLL.XML.PASSIVE then ran FSX several times with no warning.

Then I changed the False to True. That resulted in an FSX message "do you want to run AFX" both responses resulted in the original error message.

So picking up on your point about FSUIPC being last in the DLL.XML I moved the FSUIPC to the first and AFX to the last position in the DLL.XML. That has stopped the error message and I am able to run FSX, However, if I look at the Event Log there is still an error message "C:\Program Files (x86)\AFX\AFXModuleFSX.dll". Dependent Assembly, but FSX doesn't crash. I'm not sure what is causing the AFX error, there doesn't appear to be any information on what is calling AFX. At least FSX isn't crashing.

Thanks for your help

Either leave that DLL disabled 9it isn't operating in any case with that error), or re-install whatever it is you've installed which needs it.
