Hello

Can't connect to server

I'm using XP on Server, 98 on clients.

using TCP/IP through a router and have confirmed connection through wizard

I'm using FS2K4

I have both registered versions of FSUIPC and WIDEFS and trying to use PM PFD

My wide client looks like this:

; PLEASE SEE WideFS documentation for parameter details

; =====================================================

[Config]

Port=8002

Window=43,44,886,589

Visible=Yes

ServerName=FSComputer

; -----------------------------------------------

[user]

Log=Errors+

; ===============================================

My log looks like this:

********* WideClient.DLL Log [version 6.101] Class=FS98MAIN *********

Date (dmy): 24/10/03, Time 23:51:38.030: Client name is P733

25 Attempting to connect now

6861 Error: TCP/IP needs ServerName or IP address!

7185 Failed to start Client!

7236 Reception maximum achieved: 0 frames/sec, 0 bytes/sec

7236 Max receive buffer = 0, Max send depth = 0

7236 ********* Log file closed (Buffers: MaxUsed 0, Alloc 0 Freed 0 Refused 0) *********

I am getting an error that says "Error TCP/IP needs server name or IP address"

Can anyone help me please

Thanks

The only way this message can arise is when WideClient does not see the ServerName parameter. In all other server name errors it will actually try to access the Network. Here it is not even doing that.

Though you show an INI file with the server name included, I think the only explanation is that either the WideClient.ini file is not in the same folder as the WideClient.exe you are running, or somehow you have got the INI file mis-named. It must be "wideclient.ini" and it must be in the same folder as the "wideclient.exe" which you are running.

Pete
