Jack2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 I am a registered user of FS2004, FSMeteo V6.3 and Radar Contact V3.10 build 2205. I also use AdvDisp V2.123 (needed by Radar Contact) and FSUIPC V3.11 (free version). A few minutes after starting FS2004, taxiing and going to different views with the cycle view button and hat switch on my FlightSim Yoke LE USB, I get a black screen and FS2004 crashes with an exception error C0000005 Sometimes, the problem happens while airborn and using the hat switch to look around. The code and address in the error message generated by FS2004 seems to match a repeated error for "*** Access violation trying to read address FFFFFFFF" showing in the FSUIPC.LOG file. (see file "FSUIPC.LOG" in the attached zip file). I was wondering if this problem was reported by some other user.
Pete Dowson Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 The code and address in the error message generated by FS2004 seems to match a repeated error for "*** Access violation trying to read address FFFFFFFF" showing in the FSUIPC.LOG file. (see file "FSUIPC.LOG" in the attached zip file). I was wondering if this problem was reported by some other user. There doesn't appear to be an attached Zip file for me to look at, but black screen type crashes are a known hazard with FS204 (and other programs using DirectX9, it seems). I cannot hold out much hope, but I'd like to see the Log please. The access violation it is trapping certainly sounds very odd. Regards, Pete
Pete Dowson Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Another thing which may be worth trying, if you are using an nVidia-based video card -- the latest drivers (52.16) are said to fix some (not all) black screen problems, and are faster too, so worth a try for sure. Regards, Pete
Jack2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Author Report Posted October 27, 2003 I have a zip file containing FS2004 error message in jpeg format and the log file in text format, but since I am new to this forum, I did not figure out how to include it. Could you help please. :(
Jack2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Author Report Posted October 27, 2003 Peter, sorry I responded to your 1st message before I noticed your 2nd message, but yes, before I submitted this problem, I installed and tried with the 52.16 drivers and have the same problem. Jacques
Pete Dowson Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I have a zip file containing FS2004 error message in jpeg format and the log file in text format, but since I am new to this forum, I did not figure out how to include it. Does it say "you can attach files"in small print at bottom right of the Forum? If so, when you compose a message, at the bottpm there should be a button you can press to attach files. However, there is a low limit on size. If one of your files is a JPG it may be too big. In case of problem you can email it to me at petedowson@btconnect.com. Regards, Pete
Jack2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Author Report Posted October 27, 2003 Hi Peter, Since I cannot attach files, I have just e-mailed you the zip file containing a snapshot of the error message and the FSUIPC log file. Thank you. Jacques
Pete Dowson Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Since I cannot attach files, I have just e-mailed you the zip file containing a snapshot of the error message and the FSUIPC log file. Okay, Got it. Thanks. My profile has these permissions:You cannot post new topics in this forum You cannot reply to topics in this forum You cannot edit your posts in this forum You cannot delete your posts in this forum You cannot vote in polls in this forum You cannot attach files in this forum You can download files in this forum I don't understand this. If you cannot post new topics, how did you start this topic? I've not seen anyone with so restricted an access. Please write to the SimFlight forum folks and see what the problem is. I am writing separately about the FS2004 problem, with more questions. It is a puzzle. Regards, Pete
Jack2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Author Report Posted October 27, 2003 Hi Pete, I am sorry, the copy and paste of the permissions was done while I was not logged on, here are the rights when logged on (makes sense). Olaf_Jonas Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I don't understand this. If you cannot post new topics, how did you start this topic? I've not seen anyone with so restricted an access. Please write to the SimFlight forum folks and see what the problem is. @Jack2003 Just checked your profile, there is nothing wrong. The simple reason for the restrictions is, that you were not logged in. As a guest you can only read the postings and download files, nothing more. If you don't want to log in every time you visit our forums, check the box for the auto log in during the log in procedure. Your informations will be saved in a cookie on your drive and the forum software will recognize you when you come back. Please have a look in the FAQ section, there are very good descriptions how you can add files or pictures to your postings. But like Peter said before, the filesize is limited.
Jack2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Author Report Posted October 27, 2003 Thank you Olaf, you are right, I was only browsing at the time. Jacques
Olaf_Jonas Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 No problem  The attachment issue is also solved, only mods and admins were allowed to post attachments. I don't know who made this decision, but I think it was just forgotten during the setup of this forum. The settings are now changed, so that every registered user can post attachments in here. The filesize is still limited to 125kb, but that's more than enough for screenshots
