RickyLiYun Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 hello,i just custom built a lever type control with smooth axis,i wanna use it as a flaps level to simulate those real-world STOL plane flaps lever. but as everbody knows, flaps control in msfs are set as notch by notch,i tried to assigned the flaps axis in msfs itself or in FSUIPC,it still the same. is it possible to set it as linear smooth control flaps?just like how spoilers axis control are works? actually it's just fine with default flaps axis assignment, when i pull the lever on mid-range,it set to notch 1,full range to 2,but im expecting more precisely control just like the real thing. thank you.
John Dowson Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 I'm afraid this all depends upon how the aircraft model is implemented. If the implementation accepts an axis control for flaps, then you can use it, otherwise you would have to use the controls available (usually the inc/dec controls). Some MSFS aircraft allow axis controls for flaps but map them on to the discrete positions anyway, while in others the flaps axis controls are confused. You really need to check and try what is available for the aircraft in question. Also, check for any mods if using an MSFS stock aircraft. For example, I see there is a STOL improvement mod for the Savage (https://es.flightsim.to/file/3723/savage-carbon-stol-realism-mod) which has some flaps improvements, namely: Quote A 3rd monster flap (60 degrees!) so you can fly slower approaches, with higher sink rates, giving you 15ft landing bragging rights. Flaps move faster so you can pump them for short take offs and retract them at touchdown for maximum braking power. Flaperons...using 25% aileron as flaps But doesn't seem to implement a full linear flaps axis, but then again, maybe that is not available in the real aircraft, I don't know... Sorry I can't be of more help. John

Thanks again for the reply, much appreciate it, and have a good day.
