Issues controlling GPS knobs with latest FS1.37.18.0 and FSUIPC7.4.12 and Mobiflight 10.1 events

Hi Pete and John,

Thank you for all your work on this. I have registered and paid for FSUIPC7.

I just want to control the GPS430, 530, 1000, and 3000 knobs with custom freejoy based controls I have built (basically i made my own Octavi knockoff).

FSUIPC7 loads, sees the sim, I see the MobiEvents listed, but when I assign one to a button, it doesn't turn the knob in the sim. I've tried both just copying the mobievents module to the commuynity folder, and also fully installing mobiflight connect and running it alongside the sim.

I can activate Hvars and see settings change, but mobiflight evens dont turn knobs.

I initially followed this video:

But unfortunatly i installed mobiflight fully the first time rather than just dragging the events module from the github archive into the community folder. I tried uninstalling mobiflight and just dragging, but no love. I'm working with:

Flight Simulator 1.37.18.0
FSUIPC7.4.12
Mobiflight 10.1

There is nothing in my community folder except fsuipc and mobiflight.

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks!

Detailed install insturctions:

  1. download install latest mobiflight connector 10 (he does 9)
    1. OOPS - maybe could have download the ZIP archive from git hub and ONLY copied the mobiflight-events thing into the COMMUNITY FOLDER! duh. Will try uninstall and that method if this doenst work.
  2. download install FSUIPC. will be 7.4.12. he shows 7.2.10
    1. Installed using installer and registered and paid. thank you.
  3. sign up for site and get the mobiflight event files:
    1. got them.
  4. Find the FSUIPC folder and copy the event files into them.
    1. Ok yeah it installed at C:\ like in this video.
    2. Copied.
  5. launched FS from .bat file. put c172 on runway, running. can see the mobiflight evens. FSUIPC sees my encoder buttons.
    1. Open FSUIPC from taskbar, choose assing, move button, click select for fs control, choose mobifligght g530 right large button decrease, click ok, turn button, nothing happens.

Ok - I got it (I think). I had to copy events.txt from within FSUIPC7 into Community -> mobiflight-event-module -> modules.

Yay! I can control GPS knobs with my encoders!

Cheers

This is not necessary. You do not need to install/use the MobiFlight  WASM module if using FSUIPC7.

Do you need to use MobiFlight? i.e. do you have any home-built equipment that requires its use? If not, you should remove this from your WASM community folder and try again.

All you should need to do is download and install FSUIPC7. This contains a MobiFlight events.txt file - it is pretty recent and should not need to be updated, but you can update this if there are new MF events not in the current one. You should be able to assign to these events/presets and they should work via the FSUIPC WASM module.

Ah, this is what you are doing wrong. You are assigning to the MF events, not the presets. If you assign directly to MF events, you will need to install/use the MF WASM module. However, it is FAR better and easier to use presets instead. To do this, Select for Preset, then click the Find Preset... button and locate the required preset and use this.

The MF add-on event functionality (and the event file functionality in general) are an older method of control and should really no longer be needed, as everything is far easier using the presets, and the MF presets in particular. All add-on custom events will now have a preset equivalent that you should use instead.

So, remove the MF WASM module from your community folder. Then change your assignments from using the MF events to using presets, and remove any *.evt files from your FSUIPC7 installation folder.

Any issues, please attach your FSUIPC7.ini and FSUIPC7.log files and I will take a look.

To be clear, for this you should check Select for Preset, and choose AS530 RightLargeKnob Left - either directly from drop-down menu (will take a second or two to populate) or via Select Preset.. button.
