I'm a volunteer at the Military History Museum in Broken Arrow Oklahoma .
We have FSX install in the museum for veterans to use. Earlier this year it crashed. I have completely restored the computer and reinstalled FSX. Everything seems to be work ok. I have the Cessna 172 fully configured and flying.

My question is, how do I configure another aircraft, such as the BeechCraft Baron Twin, with its own control settings.
Recently I did start setting up the Beechcraft Twin so I could fly either the BeechCraft or the Cessna 172.
After working on the Beechcraft for awhile I switched back over to the 172 to fly it for awhile, only to find its control setting were all screwed up.
After much Googling a few nice gentlemen on flightsim.com finally came to the rescue.

It appears FSUIPC is the answer. FSX by itself is not capable of configuring multiple aircraft on a single instance of FSX, you need FSUIPC to accom[plish this.

Now that I've found FSUIPC I'd like to accomplish a few preliminary things before doing an install.

Get the full documentation for FSUIPC so I can study it before hand. where can i get the docs?

Next is FSUIPC the only utility in Mr Dawson's toybox that I'll need to accomplish this? For now, all I want to do is configure a couple of different aircraft for the veterans to train/play with.
I may expand on this in the furture to a dozen aircraft if all goes well.

Lastly, it appears I'll need to buy a license. I'm assuming when I attempt to install FSUIPC I'll be prompted for a trial or real license. Trial is nice, but in the end if all goes well I want to
purchase a license. How do I do this? Via the install or SimMarket.com. I see SimMarket seems to be out of the UK and the price is listed in Euro, so I assume checkout will convert to USD $.

I think this is all. Let me knmow if I have not thought of anything.

First, if this is a charity or not-for-profit organisation, I will give you a free license - no need to purchase. If this is the case, please PM me the details so that I can verify, and I will generate a free license for you.

You also mention FSX - you need FSUIPC4 for FSX. This is the forum for MSFS2020 / FSUIPC7. Please clarify which simulator you are using - FSX or MSFS2020? They are very different beasts...

With FSUIPC, you use a system called 'profiles' to have different settings/assignments for different aircraft. Just download and install the relevant FSUIPC version for the simulator you are using. The FSUIPC documentation will also be installed, which will tell you how to use profiles.  And if you are using FSUIPC7/MSFS2020, start with the trial license which you can download from a sticky-topic at the top of this sub-forum. There is no trial license available for FSUIPC4 / FSX.

Thanks much John for the offer. If you insist on generating a free license I will gladly accept. However, the license is cheep enough I don't mind buying it for the museum. It's $20, correct?

It's the Oklahoma Military HIstory Center, and we are a 501C3 organization. Located downtown Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I started working there I believe 4 years ago as a volunteer docent. I take people on tours as well as take care of whatever needs to be done around the museum. I guess lucky for them I just happen to also be a senior software developer retired from Collins Aerospace.

Let see, gotta keep this short. In one of our rooms we have a dedicated PC with FSX installed on it. Veterans are allowed to play on it free, regular visitors are charged $10 per hours to play on it. Additionally, one the people that also works at the museum is a retired fighter pilot and has several student that he's training to boost them in getting ready to get a real pilots license  A little over a year ago the PC crashed hard. A friend of mine donated a nice PC to the museum, so I rebuilt everything on it. It's running Windows 10. I was able to get FSX reinstalled and up and running as well as getting a Cessna 172 configured. Before the PC crashed they has a lot of different aircraft configured so users could select more than one aircraft. As best as I can tell after many hours, FSX by itself can only be configured for one aircraft at a time. You may want to validate this if it's true. That's where I think FSUIPC comes into the picture. I vaguely remember seeing it on the old system before it crashed while playing around with it. I had no idea what it and several other software component were.

I have been scouring the internet trying to figure out how to get multiple aircraft configured on this PC. The pilot I mentioned earlier told me that it did have a lot of aircraft configured, but I simply have not been successful in getting it done. Once again I kept seeing short mentions of FSUIPC. So this is how I landed here.

I'm really hoping to get some help from this site and get this new PC up and running with all the aircraft configure. The students are getting bored with the 172 and want some multi-engine training. I was able to save off what I believe is the folder on the old drive that has all the aircraft config settings.

I'm gonna end the story here for now. I'm gonna hope I've given you enough info and a story so you know I'm legit.

Here's our web site - https://okmhc.org/ with all the contact info. Our curator is General Tom Mancino.

My phone is 918-510-2622 if you need to call.

I just need help recovering the multi aircraft capabilities for FSX.

Again, thanks much.

Yes - any assignments in FSX will apply to all aircraft.

FSUIPC uses a concept called profiles to handle different assignments for different aircraft, and these are loaded automatically based upon the aircraft name. Please see the FSUIPC4 User guide, section User profiles for all control settings on page 23.

I will DM you on the license issues (probably tomorrow).
