Hello!

At the moment i am having issues trying to connect a w11 laptop to my sim pc, w10!

The issue is that my laptop with w11 will not connect wideclient to the wideserver. The W11 version is W11 pro , 24H2.

FSUIPC v6, 6.22, widefs7 on all.

As soon as i plug my old w10 laptop into the network to the w10 pc it works instantly.  So it has to do with my new w11 laptop.

What i have done is:

1. made sure it is the same wourkgroup ( pc see each other as well )

2. disabled the firewall ( eventhough it had an exemption for wideclient etc)

3. made sure it had the correct comm ports enabled on both pc's

In the wideserver.ini i put the following as extras:

BroadcastMode=Yes
ProtocolPreferred=TCP

ServerName=(pc name) as extras

and in the client.ini

Protocol=TCP as extra ( on top of the other things)

It still seems like a firewall issue to me although the firewall is disabled.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards,

Remco

Did you disable firewalls on both client and server? If not, try that,

This issue has been reported many times from people upgrading to Win11, and it is always either a workgroup or firewall issue (check other posts!)

ServerName goes in the WideClient.ini file, not in the WideServer.ini. In fact, there is no WideServer.ini (unless you are using FSUIPC3 or earlier) - wideserver parameters go in the [WideServer] section of your FSUIPC ini file. And don't use BroadCastMode - that is for UDP.
You can also try with ServerIPAddr in case its a look-up problem.

But I really don't have anything more to say that is not in the WideFS documentation, so read that carefully...

Thank you for the reply!

Both pc,s firewalls are disabled,

I have been searching for the w11 upgrade issues but probably copied someones false info so i will check the servername location to make sure.

The wideserver section is indeed in the fsuipc.ini file, my typo!

Ill try again tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.

Kind regards, Remco
