FSX path not found. And corrupted installer question?

Hi Pete!

Thank you for the hard work and dedication you guys have given to this project. You’ve been an unbelievable help to an incredible number of people. We owe you a lot!

Now for my issue—I am having an incredibly difficult time getting up and running with FSX, FSFlyingSchool 2023, FS Perfect Approach, and a few other apps on the Steam platform. I can’t seem to get anything going correctly.

I have just 2 quick questions. I hope the answers will help me get going.

    Q1: IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH THE FSUIPC7 INSTALLER?

I have downloaded FSUIPC7 from your website (several times just to be sure). When I launch the installer, I receive a message box InstallFSUIPC7.log“FSUIPC 7.5.3 Setup – Installer corrupted: invalid opcode”. The only option is to click on an “OK” button. After clicking, the installer continues and completes the installation with no errors or indication of any problems. (I don’t believe there would be a corrupted file coming from your site.) Any idea what else might explain this odd behavior?

 

    Q2: FSUIPC7 DOES NOT FIND THE FS2020 PATH. FSX WAS INSTALLED ON STEAM.

I’ve attached the install log file. I have attempted to install FSUIPC7 without and with FSX running. I have not changed any installation paths from their default installation values (for any of the programs).

 

Trying to keep this short as I’m sure you are a busy man! Any assistance appreciated.

There is nothing wrong with the installer. This error has been previously reported here: 

This looks to be due to the fact that the installer cannot acquire full admin rights. Make sure that you are using an account that has full admin rights for the installation. Note that you do not have to run the installer as admin - it will automatically request these.

This is probably due to the previous error, so lease correct that first and try again. If you still get this error, then check that you have the APPDATA environment variable defined - this should be defined for all windows user accounts. The installer looks for the UserCfg.opt file under:  %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\UserCfg.opt for a steam install - do you have this file?

Note also that FSUIPC7 is for MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 only, not FSX. If you are using FSX, you need FSUIPC4.
So, when you say FSX, do you mean MSFS2020?
