Josef,
I have found some UT flights that are identified correctly and others that aren't which may help if ypu have UT.
Place yourself at Manchester (EGCC) at 10.15GMT with Ai Traffic at 100%. Within a few minutes the Continental 21 will push-back and is identified correctly as all the legs in the round robin are green.
However, Singapore 327 taxiing out at the same time is corectly identified on the TrafficBoard (even though the leg is red) but the leg in the Aircraft schedule isn't. Elsewhere on the airport BA1503 (EGCC-KJFK) is also okay with all legs green.
Hope this helps.

Josef,
I've searched the UT Forums for anything relating to TB but the only message was one recommending it to someone who wants to build new flights. Round robin flights seem to be identified okay providing the flight is flagged yellow or green.
One question... if I reduce the turn-around time in TB options do I need to rebuild / scan BGLs or is the change detected and applied straight-away?

Hi Josef,
Sorry for the delay in replying - a badly cut finger is limiting my time in front of the PC.
After further analysis of this situation the incorrect identification of flights seems to be down to those flagged red. Unfortunately 95% plus of the flights using Ultimate Traffic are flagged as red. Those flagged as yellow and green are correctly identified. Occasionally, a red flagged flight will also be correctly identified but those are few and far between.
I don't know whether you have Ultimate Traffic. Quite why so many flights are flagged red is a mystery. I'll need to search through the UT Forum to see if the problem has been reported there.
I reduced the turn-around time in TB's options for green and yellow to 15 and 1 minute respectively but it didn't change any flights as far as I could see. I have also set the option to include those flights shown as having errors when compiling the BGL.
The solution seems to lie with UT's timings. Once those are flagged yellow or green TB operates correctly. Sorry I couldn't offer more help.

Hi Josef,
Thanks for your reply. I've just picked it up and it's midnight here so I'll reply in more detail tomorrow (Wednesday).
For now I should say that where this problem has been identified it relates to aircraft that are flying round-robins flights with as many as 12 legs from A to B to C to D to C to B...etc etc. The correct flight number is listed somewhere in that group of flights but not on the one highlighted when right-clicking the aircraft icon. I'll check the status of the reported aircraft tomorrow.
Since I posted that message I have installed TB on the server PC and scanned a newly compiled Traffic.bgl created by Ultimate Traffic. The resultant files were then copied to the client PC where TB is also installed and linked by WideServer and WideClient to the server.
I shall attempt to find a simple flight (one that is not a round-robin) tomorrow. It may be that it's the round-robin ones that are confusing TB.
More tomorrow...

Hi Josef,
I have downloaded and installed v3.0.5 (thank you very much) and I'm having a problem getting the currently selected aircraft to be correctly identified in the Flight Board.
Here's my setup... I have two networked PCs. The server has FS2004 installed and the client has TrafficBoard installed. In the options / folders path in TB I'm pointing to the FS2004 folder. I have granted full read/write permissions for the FS2004 folder and all sub-folders. I have scanned all the Fs folders prior to this problem.
WideServer/WideClient is running with a registered copy of FSUIPC. If I show Gound and Air aircraft and press "Display Active Aircraft on FlightBoard" I see a filtered selection of flights which shows only those aircraft on the ground at my chosen airport and those in the immediate vicinity that are airborne.
When I right-click the icon representing a taxiing aircraft I would expect to see the details for that aircraft shown in the Flight Board but this isn't happening. For example, I've right-clicked on an Air France Airbus departing LGAV to LFPG - flight no 1233 but Flight Board reports this is a US Air 757 (flight 881) departing to KCLT.
Can you throw any light on this please? BTW, I have Ultimate Traffic installed with the December schedule.
Many thanks,
-
Hello Josef,

Then you'll be familiar with the expression "The impossible we do straight-away, miracles take a little longer". :D It must have given you great satisfaction when you cracked it. I've had the same feeling but probably not as often!
Thanks for the tip. NumPad minus works just like you said it would!

Hi Josef,
I wanted to thank you for the latest upgrade to TrafficBoard. The ability to follow selected Ai aircraft is superb and your efforts in creating these new facilities are hugely appreciated.
I have one question. In the Help for Monitoring Operations you state Num can be used to toggle between FS and TB. Which key do you mean? I've tried the NumLock key but nothing happened. I have a single PC with dual monitors if that helps.
Many thanks,
-

Hi Graham,
Yes, it is an excellent program and it was never my intention to do it down. The design of the interface is something of a classic - so easy on the eye but obviously involving a lot of work and skill.
Josef is an asute programmer and I'm sure he is always thinking of ways to add extra functionality just as any good programmer would.
One feature I would love to see is to enter an aircraft ID (as shown against an aircraft once airborne) and to retrieve all flights for that aircraft. Then when you have a close shave with another aircraft you could at least identify the rascal and report him!

Hi Graham,
Although I installed Traffic Manager I never got to grips with it and have now removed it. Horses for couses I suppose.
Now if TB could have the best features of YRoute it would make it truly stupendous. Like being able to examine (and re-assign) all the flights for any particular aircraft (different to filtering for an airline or for a type of aircraft (B757 for example).
Cheers,
-
Graham and Josef,
I definitely have no duplicate entries in aircraft.cfg or aircraft.txt but by using YRoute I have been able to identify the flights for the duplicate aircraft I want to remove and have been able to assign them to the valid aircraft. I have now identified and removed my duplicate aircraft.
YRoute is an excellent freeware utility for examining flights, aircraft and airports and can be found here...
http://members.iinet.net.au/~simonh/spaRoute.html
Having said that I'm not about to dump FlightBoard! The two programs provide all you could ever need for AI aircraft.

Hi Josef,
Thanks for your efforts in trying to locate this "undocumented feature". I know how difficult it can be when you aren't given a sequence of events to follow.
If you could provide a feature that showed all assigned flights for aircraft that would be very useful and would allow me to reassign the flights for these duplicated aircraft.
Thanks,
-
Hi Josef,
<>
Well, I have only one installation of FS2002 and as far as "tampering with the aircraft.cfg files" is concerned I certainly don't do that. I did need to change the aircraft ID number after some PAI installs didn't allocate the correct ID number but I knew exactly what I was doing.
Can you tell me what will happen to flights when I delete the assigned aircraft? Do they just disappear? Should I be able to delete an aircraft that has assigned flights? I don't think TrafficBoard should allow me to do that but perhaps this is part of your planned improvements?
<>
I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by Active Aircraft. I'm sure all will be revealed when the next version is released but perhaps you could recheck your code to ensure duplicate aircraft cannot be created.
Thanks.
-
Hi Josef,
Unchecking that box did the trick - thanks. When I unchecked the box the icon changed from the FS one to one of an aircraft which I think identifies it as a TrafficBoard aircraft.
But, how were these duplicate aircraft created in the first place? Running the scan process a second time should not introduce duplicate entries should it?
Although I now have a better understanding of how things work I am concerned that duplicates could be created in the future. Are there any actions I can take to ensure this doesn't happen?
One final question. I still have some duplicates because flights are assigned to both instances of that particular aircraft. Is there a way of allocating the flights from one aircraft to another before I delete the duplicate?
Regards,
-
Gentlemen,
I have been following this thread with interest because I too have some duplicated TrafficBoard aircraft entries and having followed the advice given here have not managed to remove them.
I am as certain as I can be that there are no duplicate entries in my various AIRCRAFT.CFG files for the PAI aircraft. If I expand the section FS Aircraft by UI there is only one entry for a PAI A310 DHL. However, if I then expand All TrafficBoard aircraft there are two entries present for that aircraft.
Pressing Edit against the first entry shows it to be assigned to 6 Flights. Opening the second (duplicate) entry shows No Flights assigned. Both sets of values are identical when Edit is pressed.
I have selected all five options under the Aircraft menu item but despite doing this the duplicates remain. It would be helpful if a message was generated showing the results of the action for each of those options especially "Remove Unused TraficBoard Aircraft" as I don't think it is actually removing any.
If I understand that option correctly I would expect all TrafficBoard aircraft that have no flights assigned to them to be removed. I don't believe this is happening. Perhaps Josef could double-check please?
Thanks,
-
Hi Josef,
Yes, I thought it may not be straight-forward but my confidence in your abilities was that high I thought you might rise to the challenge :D
By all means, return to this at a later date if you feel so inclined. TB remains an excellent program even without this excellent idea

Hi Josef,
I see you're away next week so if you don't respond to this for a little while I'll understand.
I'm wondering if it's possible for FlightBoard to check the time interval between landing aircraft at any chosen airport and show (by means of your red, yellow and green indicators) if the time interval is too short and might cause a go-around.
I appreciate this isn't an easy thing to do since a heavy would catch up a Cessna from quite a distance out. But maybe it would be possible to show where arrivals are clumping together? The problem flight (either the Cessna's or the heavy) could then have its departure times adjusted by the user until that aircraft would have sufficient time to land before the next arrival.
Do you think this is feasible?
Regards.

Hi Joseph,
I hadn't appreciated all the places where data could change so I understand your problem. Thanks for your reply.

Josef,
Thank you for the v1.1 update which is a welcome enhancement to an excellent program. :D
When I exit TrafficBoard I'm always prompted to save the workspace even if I have just saved it prior to exiting. I'm also prompted if I open TrafficBoard and then exit without having done anything at all. Should this happen?

Hi Josef,
That must be because I'm a programmer too :o Thanks for the info on version numbers. I've also replied to your other request on how they should be displayed.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
-
Josef,
Why not remove the version number from the front screen and put it under Help / About - the standard place to see what version you're running?
-
Hi again Josef,
Since my last reply I've experimented a bit more and have discovered that if I type EG into the Search by ICAO box it will retrieve all airports that start with those letters. This isn't quite the same as I asked for but I think it will give me what I want.
However, I have another couple of questions / requests.
1. If I filter on the FlightBoard and select an aircraft etc. when I next open that list it always starts at the top of the list. Would it be possible for you to "remember" the last item selected and to redisplay the list starting with that item?
2. Despite downloading and installing the latest 1.03 patch the opening screen still shows v1.0 as does the Help / About TrafficBoard screen. Can you display the current version in one, or preferably both places please>
Cheers,
-
Hi Josef,
I understand about wishlists and the real world. I'm sure you have lots of other ideas too. Whatever and whenever will be fine.
As for selecting airports via the Navigator I've tried this and can only select one airport at a time. How about being able to select airports using wildcards? Would an entry such as EG* for all UK airports be a serious overhead?
The 2,500 airport warning message would presumably kick in when the limit was exceeded just as it does now when selecting from All Airports.
Regards,
How to identify currently selected aircraft in Flight Board?

Hi Josef,
Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been visiting friends in Spain. Yes, the problem is definitely linked to the flights marked red. Yellow and green marked flights are identified correctly just about all of the time.
Cheers,
