  1. Found the following post on the Golden Eagles forum:

I am undertaking a circumnavigation of the world in 'Fox Mike' - the Tigermoth kindly adapted by Bill to represent an aircraft that holds fond memories of my father and myself. I am currently heading to the Northern shores of Scotland from Cosford (I started out in Farnborough). From here I will be heading to the Faroe Isles. When I get across the ocean I was wondering if there are such things as fs9 fly ins? If so I would like to 'drop in' at some stage.

All the best to you all at Golden Eagles.

Happy 2004 - May all your flights be vintage

I have pointed him to this forum, I felt that at least a few of you would be interested in joining him.

    Regards,

  2. My feelings exactly Don! Merry Christmas and a drunken New Year to you all.

Many thanks to those of you that voiced your opinions to my site a couple of months back. Although far from perfect our business is going from strength to strength and that at least is partly due to your input.

Although I rarely have time to fly with you Guys and Gals. I am still proud to be a EFC member and look forward to meeting more of you next year.

    Take care,

  3. Thanks for taking a second to read this message.

We have decided to discontinue this forum as one of our free services and instead it will continue as a self help and information gathering area for all people to use.

As a new and small business we have come to this decision for the simple reason that all our time is at the moment taken up with paying customers which must receive priority, as I am sure you will understand.

We still hope to offer advice here as much as we can and hope that you will continue to use it and help others where possible, but by removing it as one of our services it means we are not obliged to reply to every post, which at the moment we do and why we feel guilty for not having the time to do so.

As we expand and find our feet we hope to rectify this situation and offer this service as was originaly planned.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding and if you have any comments please email me on webmaster@fs-gs.com (an address which is tongue in cheek as I am in no way a webmaster  but useable just the same!)

    Kind regards,

  4. I too have fond memorys of the Vulcan flying, the noise it created had to be heard to be believed.

Last week I set up the PSS Vulcan for FS9 and find it nearly flys perfectly. I love to switch to external view and crank up the bass, perfect!

If you go to the Red Arrows site you can pick up RAF Scampton (for FS2K2, but works fine with FS9) and it has the option to drop the Red Arrows scenery and trun it into the old Vulcan base. Not perfect but a good place to fly this amazing beast from. Look here http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/flightsim.html

    Regards,

  5. Hi all,

Some customers are paying for our services before consulting us. We have such faith in our services that we don't ask for payment until after the consultation sessions, as is clearly stated on our services page and the Simmarket page where payment is made.

We made the decision to do this due to the fact that some potential customers may be dubious of paying this amount before seeing what we can do.

So while we thank you for your trust in us, please wait until after we have worked with you and your sim/PC is running perfectly before payment.

    Kind regards,

  6. Hi Dick,

I have no knowledge of tracker balls having never used them, (maybe someone else can help who is looking here?) but I would like to say that I use a standard mouse with my left hand and have done for years.

I am actually right handed but broke my right wrist in about 98 and couldn't use the mouse in my right hand, so I quickly got used to using it in my left. This I find is now beneficial, especially in FS where I can hold my stick in my right hand and quite happily use the cockpit switches by using the mouse in my left.

Just a thought but I hope maybe someone can find an answer for you.

    Regards,

  7. Hi Ken,

I am just starting to experiment with Windows Media Encoder available here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx which is FREE!

I am encountering the same problems with this software, in that the end video is very jerky, in fact it also slows down FS9 when I am running the software. This, I am guessing, is down to the limitations of my hardware, and it seems that you may have the same restrictions for this reason.

I am running a 1.7 Athalon, 1GB DDR, 80GB HD and a Nvidia Ti 4200 on XP Pro.

I will look into this and get back to you.

    Kind regards,

  8. I would like to provide this space for free help with Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.

Simon Stansfield has come on board to offer his knowledge to those with problems. His area of expertise it primarily with repaints but he has gained valuable knowledge of these software packages pursuing this hobby.

    In his own words:

"Hi! My name is Simon Stansfield. I have been enjoying FS since 2000 and have a fair knowledge of it's basic workings.

Over the last year I have been Repainting aircraft and have gained a reasonable degree of knowledge in this area, all self taught. In the process I have gained a good working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro (Currently using V8 ) and some knowledge of Photoshop. I also use DXTBMP, BMP2000, Imagetool and to a lesser degree have used Coral Paint, and Serifs PhotoPlus.

Nick and Michael have asked me along to help with the Support Forum, which I am glad to do. However I must make it clear at this stage, I am not an expert! I, like you, am a keen enthusiast. What I will offer is, If I have the answer to your question I will share that knowledge, if I don't I will do my best to find that answer.

Happy Painting! And I know it can be frustrating at time but stick with it, the rewards are worth it.

    Simon"

I hope you will use Simons time wisely and I would like to officially welcome him into the warm clutches of FSGS!

    Kind regards,

  9. Yes it's me again 8) ~S~

It has been brought to my attention that there is another FREE server where we can practice our skills and have fun.

Some of you may be aware of the HYPERFIGHTER site run by HyperLobby, but it's new to me. It seems to be a very stable site which allows for very good FPS. There only appear to be 7 rooms with the largest capable of accomodating 12 players (the smallest 2) but this would be perfect for smaller games, tournaments or matches.

If you want to take a peek this please follow this link: http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/index.php

For the required software you will need to download the following file: http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/modules.phtit&lid=10

Once downloaded, extract the executable file and run the installer. Click on the newly created desktop icon (or run from the start menu) and you will open up the hyperlobby where you will be presented with a list of games. Scroll down the menu and click on "Combat Flight Simulator" and then enter your Zone name and a password of your choice in the boxes below the menu. Click on connect.

You are now in the CFS ummmm, Briefing Room? Here you will need to enter your password and email address in the main chat box at the bottom (the only time you are asked to do this) and that's it.

To host a game just click on the first empty box below the available "missions". To launch click on the button nest to the mission.

To join a game follow the above but you will only be able to join a game with free spaces.

To leave a game click on your name again.

    Easy huh!!

Let me know what you think, I feel it may be a good place for stable games in the future.

    Regards and happy flying,

  10. ~S~ All

Due to the fact that the 341st and CC seem to be reforming after the summer break, now the evenings are drawing in, we were wondering if you would be interested in a team game to reunite our squads in a friendly but competetive game?

Sunday the 16th of November I feel would be a good date to allow time to work out all the fine details and allow for those on different time zones to join in.

Ideas, rules and exact times can be worked out here, as well as any downloads felt to be relevant.

    Looking forward to your replys,

    341 Colonel Joker

  12. ~S~ very well put joker this is indeed a good thing ! but i know that cc and hopefully alot more squads will be using this

    ~S~ all CC_XO_Willy

I hope so too Willy, is there any chance of creating a link on the Joint Op's site? With the amount of students you have passing through, this would be a great place to advertise. I have set up a new thread for active squads to post the URL to their web sites, and will be starting a new one for Squads to advertise for new recruits.
