  1. I'm not so sure you don't have to re-compile after each update of the ISEC and Airways.txt files.

I've found Intersections in the BOTH the scenery.001 file and in the ISEC.txt file.

I would imagine FSNav takes the data from the ISEC.TXT file and merges it with the scenery files when the databse is built.

As per the picture below - the ISEC is VAITE and its in the scenery.001 and the isec.txt file

I would say to be on the safe side you would still have to recompile with the FSNav DBC after each update.

Just my 1p's worth there

    Cheers now

  2. Late reply (again  )

I'm not an expert with Vista so you know more than me.

I think FSNav gets its multiplayer info direct from the MSFS multiplayer connection, so you 'should' not need to open any specific ports for this.

Have you tried using the ip address 127.0.0.1 when starting FSNav multiplayer connection and see if that helps ? I'm presuming you are using SB3 and this is connecting ok ?

    Cheers now

  3. @ Jim

    Hi Jim,

It should be, its the very last line (its slipped under the FSNav banner due to the sloppy formatting !).

Let me know if you can't get to it, or if its the wrong one.

    Cheers

    @ pp-obs,

Thats great ! Thank you very much for that.

I can see the start of keeping the database up to date, if a group takes care of a section of the world, then all we need is somewhere to hang it all together and verify the data.

  4. I'm sorry for the delay,

Work is getting in the way of my Flight Simming !

I've put a 'very' rough page together so that you may update or download the freeware files that were on the old FSNav site http://www.pda.myzen.co.uk/pacific_dire/fsnav.htm

Pay no attention to the other junk on that page its been an unfinished WIP for about 9 months !!!

My SID-STAR database (last update June 2007) can be downloaded from the links above or directly :-Here.

    I'll get something a bit better arranged shortly . . . .

  6. Which bit doesn't work, there are 5 questions in that link.

    I would try the following:-

Start MSFS, open Multiplayer and HOST a session locally, name it anything you want, if it starts getting piccy about ip addresses use 127.0.0.1 (loopback) and let it set up the session.

IN WINDOWED MODE, start FSNav and get it to join the session. Fly around and see if it disconnects. (Ensure that any key presses and stick controls do not have a short-cut/aliases to either MSFS Multiplayer Disconnect or FSNav Multiplayer Disconnect).

If its OK like this, then the problem is likely to be in the network setup side of the PC or the network adapter itself. If not, then need to look a bit closer at MSFS/FSN multiplayer settings

What OS is MSFS running on ?

So, have you tried HOSTING a session locally ?

What IP address did you use ?.

Will FSNav join this local session ?

If yes can MSFS Join an external session ?

If yes can both FSNav & MSFS and Stay connected with the external session ?

    What version of FS ?

    What OS ?

    What Firewall ?

    What Router/cable modem ?

Can you ping the server you want to join from a DOS prompt ?

  7. Hi Mark,

I'm not sure where you are coming from with this.

It is fact, not supposition that Helge has a road traffic accident and was in a bad way for some considerable time. What is not known, are the extent of his injuries and how they affected him work wise. To be honest his medical history and extent of his injuries are no business of ours.

It may have been a little late but, Somebody (Helge) did contact Someone (Miguel) and did let them know what was happening (FSNav is closing).

I've got to assume you are looking at this with regard to FSX ?

    Cheers now

  8. It should be later if you managed to get an on-line update, (I know, it was not that easy and was hardly ever available), my last update (confirmed) via the internet was July 2007.

If anyone needs this (it may not be the latest update), then I can post it on the web for download if thats any help.

It does however bring up this question of the SID/STAR database and the verification, maintenance and upkeep of these files. Lets see what Miguel comes up with. As a last resort perhaps we may have to organise something ourselves  if we want to keep current. What do you think ?

  9. Weeeellllll,

Its a case of finding out if its a problem with MSFS Multiplayer not staying with the server or FSNav not staying connected to MSFS Multiplayer . . . or both !

    I would try the following:-

Start MSFS, open Multiplayer and HOST a session locally, name it anything you want, if it starts getting piccy about ip addresses use 127.0.0.1 (loopback) and let it set up the session.

  10. Hi,

    Well thats a loaded request :P !

I say that because the Fuel burn appears to vary quite a lot between the aircraft authors.

There can be just under 40% difference between for example PSS, POSKY, iFDG, PMDG, FFX and Flight 1, all for the same aircraft, and they all vary again depending on TOW, the load distribution and trim of the aircraft and the Flight level. Nightmare !

My advice would be to download a program which will accurately monitor your Fuel flow. A simple free program which will do this is FSACARS [available here http://www.satavirtual.org/fsacars/downloads.html ](worth the download time just for the fuel management alone).

Set the program up with your parameters of choice, load your aircraft, and monitor the fuel flow using the above program (its under the Aircraft Data tab) during climb, level flight and descent, ( be aware that descent without flaps is very easy on fuel, as soon as you start poking bits of wing and wheels out into the airflow the fuel flow rate goes up).

If you do that under fully loaded conditions for each of your aircraft, and enter this data into FSNavigator, then you should never have to resort to looking for the Gas Station in the clouds, nor landing with the tanks still 75% full !

    HTH
