Hi Dougal,
you're right, it should read scenery.cfg.fsc.
Do not forget:
download and install the latest bugfix here:
http://forum.simflig...fix-2011-03-16/
and run the DataBaseManager again
Volker
Okay, thanks
-
Okay, I think I understand - thank you.
I don't recall it being explained, but then my memory is not what it was
I am a little confused though, as it worked previously with my addon scenery installed separately. I haven't reinstalled the scenery, I just removed and added it via the FSX library.
Thank you for the explanation though, and I'll TRY not to bother you again.
EDIT: Would it not be the scenerycfg.fsc file that must edit? Surely, if edit my scenery.cfg, then FSX then not see the scenery?
Thanks
-
Strange - it said it was.
I'll try again.
Hello again
For what it's worth, if it helps at all... I've tried running the DBM from the main PC, instead of the networked PC, and it works okay. So I'm assuming it's not corrupt scenery files etc.
Thanks
EDIT: It's by no means urgent by the way - I've sorted a 'work around' by just copying the FSC 'Database' folder from the main PC to the netwoked installation.

Hi Dougal,
the log file is not present within this thread.
Please attach gain or send the file to my e-mail address.

Hello Guys
Not sure what I've done or what's gone wrong, but it appears I need some help with it...
My FSC9 installation is on a networked PC and all has been well for a long time.
I've just had to reinstall some scenery addons, and now, when attempting to run the database manager, I get an FSCDB error of: Source: cmdWorld_Click = 52 = Bad file name or number
x:\\ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS\scenery\
Also attached log file.
I don't think I did anything differently to what I usually do.
Thanks

Hi pete
I run FSUIPC on my main PC and WideFS on the client.
I also use a hagical little application called Synergy. Do you know it? It enables the full control of both PCs via single keyboard & mouse without having to setup a KVM or the like.
Triouble is, I think this is causing WideFS to pickup key commands and send them to FSX on the main PC.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks
-
Thanks Pete, Will look at the Leo Bodnar thing.
Much as I really love the idea of overhead bottons & stuff, the tech side of it is new to me. Plus, I have a neurological condition which makes learning new technical stuff very hard indeed.
I'm trying to study your technical guide to glean as much data as I can, but it's a slow process

Something else that's crossed mind is to rewire the switches inside the panels, and hook them up to a 'Pulse Generator' from http://www.desktopaviator.com/
From my understanding, that will enable the toggle switches to opperate as momentary switches, sending single pulses to FSUIPC, or even directly to FSX.
Curious to here if anyone else thinks that MIGHT work?
Cheers

Thanks Pete, I appreciate the detail.
It's truely 'gobsmacking' a company the size of saitek (can't even bring myself to use a capital s!!) choose such a route. With thier profits, surely they wouldn't even a notice the outlay of a commercial licence.
They do seem to have gotten quite greedy these days; showing what appears to be contempt for customers. Example: I wanted the cyborg-x flight stick. No longer availible. It's been re-released as the f.l.y.5 Same stick - just a much higher price!
I'm going to have a burning ceremony with my saitek stuff. Extreme? Yes, but it'll make ME feel just a tiny bit better
-
I can understand why that is an issue.
I don't believe however, that it should block support for a registered FSUIPC user. I am most definately not using it without a licence
If FSUIPC is able to help me, then what's wrong in my asking for such help?
I certainly will NOT be buying any more saitek (small 's') rubbish though.
-
Seems I've dropped a clanger by purchasing the Saitek range of panels for FSX
I incorrectly thought they were programmable, but apparently they're not, which I find astounding to say the least.
I have a registered version of FSUIPC and wondered if anyone else had found a way of either changing button asignments, or making these panels work with addon aircraft, like PMDG etc?
Any help at all much appreciated.
Cheers
-
Thanks! My favourite! Drinking it now! ;-)
Pete
Profiles, along with the 'substrig' entry makes things SO much easier!
-
Hello Pete
Hope you're well.
Been using FSUIPC since around 2004.
I know the 'Profiles' option hasn't been in it since then, but I have only just started using it. Which is crazy 'cos I've been using individual settings for over 70 different addon aircarft prior to that!
Nothing to ask, moan, winge or discuss, just a THANKS for continuing to improve this ammazing addon.
Cheers mate - a beer from me!

Just to say THANKS to Volker who made this work for me

Oh bugga!
Sorry you had to respond to that Pete. I'd hoped I'd get back in here 1st.
you're just too darn quick for your own good you know
I sussed pretty quick afterwards... When I reinstalled win7, I forgot that I'd previously renamed the 'workgroup'!
Thanks again though

Ha, ha!
...and guess what? I've just discovered my 'USER' backup DVD is corrupt. So, apart from a shed load of other stuff, it also means about 4 years worth of FSUIPC config data setting gone :o
Hey Pete
After re reading what I put, never mind. It sounds like I'm taking the p*** and I don't like that.
I've just re printed all FSUIPC related manuals and take them off to bed.
Don't tell the wife though will you

Thank you for your appreciation of my work!

Hey Pete... Talk about timing.... Seems I've just 'stuffed' my FSUIPC/WideFS installs
After reinstalling Win7x64, FSX and all my addons, I've now got no comms between FSUIPC and WideFS between the two PCs
FSX reports 'waiting for connection'.
I'm gonna be cheeky here Pete and just ask rather than plough through the docs again... ( I just got finished reading 4 other manuals & my head hurts  ) Is there a common mistake when networking? It's been a long time since I installed them originally and can't remember setting it up.
Here's what i THINK is relevant:

Hello Pete
Just thought I'd drop in here briefly while 'MakeRwys' is running in the background...
I run as many external FS applications as possible on a networked PC.
Without your applications, I wouldn't be able to do that.
Very many thanks Pete
That's all!
-
Thanks Volker, will send them later. On laptop now.
Just to inform you I'm now having to do a complete Windows7 & FSX reinstall due to hardware error!
No doubt I'll get back to this problem in a few days... eek!
-
Hi Dougal,
to investigate your problem please send following files to my e-mail adress which you find at the bottom on our homepage:
1. Kai Tak the AFCad file
2. depending which FS is involved; FSCDBM_FS09.LOG and/or FSCDBM_FS10.LOG
Regards,
Volker
Thanks Volker, will send them later. On laptop now.

Hi Guys
Beautifully sorted with Google Earth now, but I have another issue...
This was also the same in v8.6...
I have FSC v9 on a networked PC.
Have run DB manager after running new download of MakeRwys without problems.
However, At least two addon airports are not showing correctly in FSC9.
In Fly Tampa Kai Tak, the ILS is not visible and in Aerosoft Madeira, the airport is not there at all.
As in the previous FSC, it's possible to have them show by copying the data folder from the FSC installation on the main PC
Hope I've made myself understood and that you can shed some light on it for me?
Thanks

Hi Guys
I know I'm fixed, but that link just gives me error: "[#10342] We could not determine which forum this topic is in. "

Oh wow!
Old as this thread is, I've only just read it (or tried to  )
It's brilliant. Only wish I had the 'know how' and aptitude to impliment this stuff.
I only recently aquired some saitek panels (yuk! But hindsight is a wonderful thing  ), for which some of this stuff can actually make work.
This is just a 'pre-emptive' thanks to the contibutors (and Pete of course) in case I just happen to be able to make use of it.
So, Thanks all!
