Hi Dougal, Schmeichel75 (and possibly others with the same problem)
During the past week we have been trying all kinds of things to solve the GE issue addressed in this thread.
Unfortunately, we cannot test what we have done because on our machines it always works perfectly whatever we do. Similarly for all the friends we personally know.
So we need help from those where GE DOES NOT work the way it is explained in the manual.
We would appreciate very much, if Dougal, Schmeichel75 and possible others (where it doesn't work) could contact us via e-mail. Our address is at the bottom of our website (www.fscommander.com).
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sascha
Thanks Sascha
will email you

For you guys with the 'greyed' out GE option...
Are you sure you have have FS9/X actually running, and that the 'GPS' connection is established?
It will not be available until these are so.
-
Don't know if it's any help or not (doubt it really) but everything works correctly if all used on my main FSX PC. This is Windows7 64bit - FSX-SP2 - Current FSUIPC. GE then opens with the flightplan displayed.
I can't use it like this though, as I can't run FSX in Window mode.
The networked (FSC9 & GE) PC is XP-Pro 32bit. We know it's not a networking issue, as FSC9 runs correctly on this, including the database rebuild facility.
So, presumeably it's something lacking in the XP system. I'll try updating all the usual stuff... MS dot net, Direct-X etc.

Thank you Sacha
I have no problem whatsoever with being patient. Sadly, time is the one thing I have plenty of. However, when only silence prevails, it leads one to ask questions.

To the FSC Developers...
Just because there's only a few of us for who it doesn't work, does not make it any easier for US.
Please at least confirm one way or the other if you are even reading these posts?
If you cannot help us now, do you plan to try to help us in the future?
Thank you

Hi Dougal,
I tried to explain in my previous post, what is going on and what FS Commander does. As far as I can tell it generally works in most cases, but there are a few where apparently it does not.
Why this is the case, we simply don't know, but obviously it has to have something to do with individual setup.
Regards
Sascha
Considering the ONLY reason I purchased v9 was to get the Google Earth integration, I guess it was something of a waste of money for me then
FSC8, FSC9 and Google Earth all work flawlessly across the network, as do all my other addons when used with WideFS. FSC9 will just not hookup correctly with Google Earth.

Hello Otto
yes you correct. That is exactly what happens.
Hello Kelvyn.
Yes, all things happen and the files are in place, as is the single flight plan I have already saved. When FSC9 opens GE however, the plans and the aircraft position do not show. Even if I manually 'move' GE to the correct location.
-
Thank you
FSX is running on on main PC under Windows7 64 bit
FSC9 is on networked PC under Windows XP 32 bit.
FSC Path = C:\Program Files\FSC9
GE path = C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth\client
Folder path was correct previously, I just hadn't seen it.
FSC does connect AND launch GE, but does not show plan or position.
GE flightplans CAN be loaded manually from C:\Program Files\FSC9\Flightplan\Google

I still haven't been able to get FSC to Open Google Earth showing either my flight plan OR my aircraft position.
There was ONCE a time on this forum when individual support was given instead of generic 'this is how it works posts'.
I'm extremely disapointed at the lack of feedback from the developers
It's not as if I've said it's the software or anything. I fully appriate it works for most, thus MUST be an issue my end.
BUT I DO NEED A LIITLE HELP IDENTIFYING THAT ISSUE PLEASE?
Please guys, it's the third time i've asked?
-
When you just open GE (without FSC or FSX) where are you placed? For example I'm placed about 11000km above central Europe.
Above the UK. Why?
-
Same for me too.
I now have the correct file structure (thank you for the pics), there ARE saved flightplans in the 'Google' folder, but I can get nothing to load via FSC9.
Nor can I get the aircraft position to show.
I have QUADROUPLE checked all of the above settings.
I just can't see where I'm going wrong??
Thanks
-
PLEASE guys???
Any chance of some help here?
-
Mmmmm.... Nope, don't have that folder.
Thanks.
Off to bed now will try again tmrw

I hear you and I'm networked too... Well, to me it sound like there's a possibility that either GE is having problems opening KML files or a possible security issue preventing it from working properly, but might not be limited to those.
If you go to the Google folder under FSC9 and open the Flight Plan you created, does it show the flight path in red and the way points in the form of yellow flags? This should at least confirm that GE is working correctly to some extent. You can also try to start FSC9 with Administrative privileges and see if that helps as well as trying to set GE to start in DX mode, Safe Mode, or OpenGL as it could be a graphics issue too.
I don't understand what you mean by 'Google folder under FSC9??
Any chance of any official support here guys?
Please?

Hello,
Well, I personally haven't encountered an issue yet so far with GE in a Windows x64 environment. Ensure that under Windows > Options > Online you have the GE client folder selected. Create/Save a Test plan with a check on GE and FS and then connect and check the "Show position in GE..." and you should be seeing GE automatically open up and show you the map where you'll look for a "circle" which would depict your position. If you leave it open, you'll be able to see the "circle" moving as you move your plane.
If the Online option is configured as expected you should be able to even see a prompt upon creating a flight plan letting you know if you want to view it in GE and if you say yes then you should also be able to see GE automatically open up and give you the location.
I guess the main thing from this is that if FSC9 doesn't open GE automatically then there might be issues. Hope the previous comments help.
Sadly, none of that happens for me and, to be honest, i'm a little disappointed in the lack of 'developer' support here.
I know the GE settings are correct in FSC9 as GE opens as specified.
However, no route shows nor does the aircraft position.
I am running FSC and GE on a networked PC with WideFS.
I'm not blaming the software. It obviously works correctly. I just some help finding out what I'm doing INcorrectly?
Thanks

I just can't see what I'm doing wrong now guys....
GE starts when I select 'show Position in GE', and I understand I then have to move GE to show my current position.
Nothing is showing up though - no 'target' or position marker
-
Hi,
I'm sure that you have GE but I'm not sure that you have set the correctly path in the options window.
The path must be looking simelare like : \...Programme\Google\Google Earth\client .
Regards,
Volker
Many thanks
as usual.... user error.
I was missing the "client" bit

Change of plan....
I think the answer to that was because I was also running another flightplan software behind FSC which also uses GE.
However, now what I get when selecting GE is a program error (Run-time error '53' File not found) then FSC crashes to desktop
Yes, I do have GE on my system and it works okay.

Hello
I have read the manual AND the other thread concerning Google Earth, but this appears to be different issue...
I have loaded the the Google Earth info into Window/Options/Online.
However, every time I go back to check the setting, it has reverted back to the previous option - 'Folder TeamSpeak'.
Doesn't matter how many times I 'close' the window and restart FSC, the setting wont stick.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
-
Am I the only one to have this...?
-
I have v9 installed on my lower spec (but not old) networked PC, and runs MUCH slower than 8.6 use to.
8.6 was instantanious in everything it did, but there's always a second or so delay with v9.
By no means the end my FS world, but it is a little frustrating when you're in a hurry on final approach
Is it simply more coding?
-
Seems like its not available on Simmarket now
A search for FSC/FSCommander brings up nothing.
Rog
It's totally bizarre for this to go on so long. Some 'politics' going on perhaps
-
It's been taken down due to a technical problem with the keycode system, Dougal. It should be back tomorrow.
Sorry about that!
Ian P.
(not a simMarket employee - They have more sense than to let me in as I'll empty the shelves!)
Still not up I see.
All I wanna do is buy it with my discount. Most unusual for a publisher to make those kind of mistakes.
The mistakes usually happen AFTER they've got your money.
Cynical? Me? Surely not
-
Also....
Am I going bonkers? I don't see any way to purchase this on SimMarket (where I got v8)?
Your weblink only shows v8, as does the SimMarket search function!
