  1. Yeah...it was hot. We had to have ALNW come in later in the day and I got a brief chance to talk to the pilot after they landed. First thing out of his mouth: "This isn't some 300 pounder, is it?"

  2. Rich,

At least you should get some relief being near the water. I'm down here in Elma right now burning up...

(How'd you like to throw the ol' bunkers on and stand out on the highway asphalt waiting for AMR today? :D )

  3. I've just been informed (June 30) that the final touches are being performed on the wheeled version...

(I think I wouldv'e been able to build a kit plane in less time than its taken me to learn modelling...sheesh...)

  4. Hi Valcor,

You've joined a great group... with whatever level of involvment you choose, you're sure to get something out of this affiliation.

    In regards to your questions:

    1. I think you'll find that although there aren't any 'required' add-ons to participate, you'll find that to get the most of your involvement, esp. if you plan on joining the online flights, most members have Emma Field, Orcas, and the Georender series of scenery add-ons. There are many more freeware and FSE scenery add-ons available as well. These are all pretty much available at Simon's One Stop Shop. Watch the forums for his announcements. Keep an eye out for Mark's Bremerton scenery, as I'm sure thats gonna be a must have once released (I hope your server is ready for that day, Mark :-)! ).

As far as aircraft go, there is a wide variety of preference among the membership, although the majority stick to GA planes (payware & freeware).

    2. You don't need Gerrish's trees for Emma.

    3. Lindy already took care of this one.

    Welcome aboard!

    Jeff

  5. I bought it without waiting for the discount e-mail (which showed up about 2 hours later :P )...

I like it... it won't be as popular as some of the payware airliners out there, but I think it nicely fills the right niche. I'm really impressed with the number of liveries available, but I do think the panel needs a little work in regards to making it sim-friendly (sim-icons, etc..).

  6. Rich:

Okay...fair enough... it is an inanimate object.

However: (here it comes...you know it :D ) ..it is now 08:05 and I have just been held over until who knows when, so somebody or something is gonna have to take the 'stupid' title! (Maybe I'll go pick on the Cascade system or the Extractor..or the row of empty white helmets out in the bay  ).

At least I know that my roads are paid for now (and the Beaver, and the Conquest, and the B200, and...). Ah...gotta love the mandatory OT...

  7. Download took from 0900 to 1300...then had to scrape up a good CD from a co-worker since the one I brought from home fritzed (:-)) out on me....

I'm burned in and ready to go...but now I'm stuck in this stupid fire station until 8 o'clock tomorrow morning... :x

oh...I CAN't wait...this is terrible.... guess I'll go d/l the Beav to take my mind off it.

  8. A few of you know about my 180 project thats been going on for some time (This is my first attempt at an aircraft...far from my comfort zone with FS scenery). Anyway, my little team has made some great strides lately and hope to have this plane available soon...

These are some development shots of the wheeled version:

  9. I think I've got every plane mentioned 'cept the Porter and Bill's Apache, but to stick with the original question, here's my .02:

The Dakota seems an easier aircraft to manage than the Centurion, although both are above par, IMO. The only reason I fly the Dakota more is that, when flying VFR and hopping into different views all the time, its a little bit more user-friendly and predictable than the Centurion. I've also got the Dreamfleet Archer, but like the Caranedo planes a little bit more.

  10. Hey guys,

I'm a rookie with FSDS, and started a project making a Cessna 180/185. Although I have most of the plane complete, I've hit a few snags, mostly related to my ineptitude with textures and an inability to 'perfect' my VC.

I'm looking for any interested parties who might want to jump on board and help complete this project. In addition to the FSDS files I've completed so far, I have a 2D panel (two versions), and an .air file designed and tested by 3 RW pilots, including 1 with many years of 180 experience. I'll keep the names of the others confidential for now, but they are familiar around the sim community, esp. the 'local' bush forums.

    What I really need is:

    1. Someone adept with FSDS to take over the 'finishing' work on the model (and fix any mistakes I've made).

    2. A texture person who can give this project the look it deserves.

    3. Anyone else who might have something to give to the project that I might be overlooking.

I know this is a tall order and asking a lot, but I think this plane would be a great addition to the freeware out there and would love to get some help getting it flying.

Let me know if you are interested by replying here or e-mailing me: shields"at"regionalpacific.com

    Thank you!

    Jeff
