  1. Maybe just a touch n go to make it official...cause i'll bet everyone's gonna want to keep going to be at the finish line for the festivities...

Ya know...depending on where you do this and how many get involved...it wouldn't be too much trouble to (temporaily) AFCAD a bunch of side by side runways in...that way each team) could take off at the same time.

  2. This sounds like fun...

Maybe like Don said: a fixed route in a plane everone has, or can get.

One possibility: Set up a route of 'X' number of fields (say 30-50nm apart)with each teams pilots waiting at a different field. Then run it like a relay. Once your teams pilot lands at your field and is off the runway, you can get rolling. Course, there'd probably need to be some kinda rules put in place for when two planes land back to back or side by side or whatever.

Gonna need to set up even teams if ya go that route, too...

  3. I pretty much have everything handled so far as webspace, etc.. but certainly appreciate all offers of assistance and will definitely be recruiting if it becomes necessary :)

Right now the big effort is in the coding (PHP), as I am learning that it is all in the details. For instance, once a pilot signs on, his/her account is set up with X amount of $V, which he uses to buy one of the aircraft 'on the lot'. Obviously, starting out, the choices are gonna be limited to types like single engine 4 seaters, etc. The pilots 'buys' his plane, gets a dedicated N (or C...or whatever) number. Anytime he files a PIREP for that plane, the hours are credited in the form of money to the pilot, but debited in regards to hours on the aircraft...which the pilot will have to monitor or be outta luck if he spends his money on upgrades, etc... The basic premise is to allow someone to buy a plane and manage a virtual bush or charter business...with no strings. Kinda like a make your own rules as you go type outfit. One thing I would like to figure out (but am afraid the coding process would take years off my life) is to figure out how a group of pilots could 'link' themselves to run a business together.

Once I get going, the main place I'm gonna need help is having people help develop the jobs available on the job board. I've already got a working beta for this with a browser based interface whereby one can login as a 'staff' member and access the jobs database and add new charters (or whatever).

Big project...but I'm getting there (after about 9 months of work  )

  4. I have a VA that has a charter (read as: bush flying) division, but we are based up in Alaska...so that is kindof outta range.

My current project, which I hope to have up and running in the next coupla months is a VA that is not a VA ( ).

I guess I'd better explain. What I am working on (its in the coding process right now) is a VA wereby the pilots, after application, run thier own bush flying business. You are given a starting 'loan', which is used to purchase your plane (more money earned...better planes can be purchased). Once you have your plane, you select flights from the ever-growing list. As you PIREP flights, you earn your cash. But be careful... didn't pay for your 50 hour? Not gonna be able to file any more flights for that particular plane until that maintenance bill is paid.

    Getting the idea?

Oh, yeah...as far as rules go..the only ones that will be in effect over here are those that are related to how info is entered in the database...you fly if and when you want, in what you want, where you want. How loose an organization is that? :)

    Stay tuned...

  5. Luigi,

This is a new one on me... I'm not sure why the objects wouldn't be showing correctly.

Hopefully one of the scenery/FSE heavyweights will pop in here with a solution.

I would imagine if you have any third-party mesh there is a risk of the elevations being screwed up. You can, if you'd like, use your own FSE to adjust the elevations of the objects.

  6. Pup,

If you end up putting add-ons into your FS folders, chances are you're going to need FSUIPC to make them functional. Basically, FSUIPC allows the add-on to communicate with FS.

Good news: the freeware version of FSUIPC will work for this purpose.

I have the registered version myself, and although I don't use (or even know) all its features, I do use a lot of them, esp. those related to weather and technical aspects of aircraft.

    To answer your questions:

    1. I don't know.. :-) ...since I don't know what you have on your system. I do know that you can make some technical ("in sim") tweaks to things like weather, battery life, radio tuning increments, as well as key assignments...plus a lot more that I'm sure I'm not even aware of.

    2. Not really 'opening' features, but in a way helps you maximize the use of some.

    3. Yes. With the number of add-ons that require its installation, its worth having, and most likely getting familiar with and purchasing a registered version, IMO.

  7. Paul,

...nope...sorry. Glenn is still working on the 180 panel.

    Jun,

These aren't (as far as I know) either PAI or FSPainter aircraft...so not sure about a fix. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem since that last occurance anyway, so may have been a fluke.

  8. Don,

Very interesting...as I am testing out another third party AI traffic product which, I suppose should now remain nameless...as if what you say is true, these boys may have very well pilfered some of PAIs or Flight1s models for their own use (shame, shame...).

I'm gonna have to do some investimagic, I guess....

  9. I can't remember who it was now, but one of you has a White Piper Cub with fat tires...

Were you lollygagging about 8nm south of KCLS yesterday?, 'cause if you weren't..then your twin went directly (and I mean directly!) over my house at about 800ft .... I'm 'just north of Napavine on 603.

Next time put it down in the field.

  10. EDIT: Oh, and TipTop, thanks for the tip from the top. I don't speak French (maybe a little cajun) but your explanation of the site has allowed me to explore some of the other offerings there. I'm grabbing the FS9 Alpha as I type this. Thanks.

Here's a (very rough) translation of the page, Phil.

    http://tools.search.yahoo.com/language/translation/translatedPage.php?tt=url&text=http%3a//www.francesim.com/&lp=fr_en

When I find a website without an 'in-house' translation, a lot of the time I'm able to enter the domain name as a search parameter in Yahoo or Google and then you can click the 'Translate this page' link that appears next to the search results...useful in the FS world for us mono-linguals.

  11. Freeware Scenery package designed for use with the FSAddOn Orcas Island 'New World' Scenery (I called it 'Real World' in my readme...sorry, Francois! ).

Although not required, this scenery package was created with additional features utilizing Lago's FSE. Users may install the scenery without the FSE files, however, only static buildings and some of the watercraft will appear.

    FSE users will find:

-Beach area with swimming area and seasonal campers

-Additional landscaping features around the area homes

    -Area vehicles

    -Ambient sounds

Please read the installation instructions and README files!

  12. Pup,

Maybe press the 'D' key to reset your HSI before taking off... :)

I found the Orcas (swimming type...not island type) by taking off from KORS over the water, turning left and heading along the beach. Get your speed and trim set so your flying along nice and smooth around 800-1000' (the Maule, btw, is excellent for this...man, that sucker is stable). Anyway, get yourself situated and then go to Spot View so you can fly the plane from the outside. Watch the water...Springer is out there with her buddies somewhere...
