Hi Pete,
... could not wait until the weekend! :D
I can confirm that offset 3412 now produces values without disconnecting the spoiler axix via 341A.
Thanks again for your great support!
Best regards,
Hans

Dear Pete,
got it. Thanks again!
Testing will most likely be done over the weekend. I will report here on the results.
All the best,

Dear Pete,
still using FS9 only...
I really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
Hans

i'll also take a look at changing those new offsets to behave more like the old ones
Hi Pete,
that is good to hear - it will certainly make my task easier.
When do you think this change might be implemented? And how can I find out about it? My email is cockpit@hanskrohn.com, if you want to drop me a line...
Best regards,
Hans

Dear Pete,
no, I am not disconecting the spoiler or throttle axis via offset 341A.
Reason for using 3412: My spoiler lever is motorized. After touchdown, I want the lever to move automatically to the full up position. My understanding is that offset 0BD0 is not (only) controlled by the movement of a joystick axis, but also directly by FS9 - which after touchdown will set the offset to max value. So I need an offset that only shows the value directly from the joystick axis (for position information).
My idea is to let my control program (EPIC+FS Communicator) compare the values of 0BD0 and 3412. If a difference between the two is detected (i.e. lever is in ARM position and FS sets 0BD0 to max. value), a clutch engages and a motor moves the lever to the full down position. This is why I need one offset that tells me where FS9 wants the lever to be and one offset that tells me where the lever actually is at that very moment.
I used this type of programing very succsessfully on my motorized throttle, which beautifully follows inputs from the Autothrottle of the Project Magenta MCP.
I hope my explanation was sufficiently clear... :?
Did I understand correctly that 3412 would produce values if I first disconnect the axis via 341A? If that's true, I could simply include a temporary disconnect in my program (during the time the lever is moved by the motor).

Hans

What does "mapped and working" mean? You assigned it in FSUIPC, direct or via FS controls? OR do you mean you assigned it in FS and just calibrated in FSUIPC?
Hi Pete,
I do not assign any axis within FS9, only in FSUICP. I even deleted the joystick entries in FS9.cfg. By "mapped" I mean that I assign my analogue axis in FSUICP to the Spoiler Axis (checked the box: via FSUICP, not the one that says "direct to FS". Both the joystick asignment and Joystick calibration windows in FSUICP show input values when I move the lever of my spoiler, and it gives the expected result in FS9 (i.e. raising and lowering the speed brakes).
But within FS Communicator - when I use offset 3412, I don't get any values while moving the axix.
As I said, I used the same method for the throttle, and I can see that it works (i.e. input values showing) within FS Communicator.
Best regards,
Hans

Hi Pete,
me again:
I have my spoiler axis mapped and working in FSUICP, but offset 3412 does not show me any axis movements (in FS Communicator).
I have used offset 332E for the throttle without problems.
Do you have any hint?
Best regards,
Hans

Hi Pete,
thanks for the quick answer!
I had searched trough a printed document (of an older version, evaidently). I was away from the hobby for a while - amazing how much has changed in one year!

Dear Pete,
I am in the process of programing motorized airbrakes for my 737 simulator. I am using an EPIC analogue chanel that I have mapped to "Spoiler" in FSUIPC. All this works fine. Now the question:
For motorized operation, I need to be able to read the Input Value (post calibration) for that axis. I saw in the FSUIPC manual that there are plenty of offsets that provide those values (3328 to 3338), but none refers to the spoiler axis. Did I overlook something? How can I get that value?
Any help is - as always - highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Hans

Dear Flight Illusion staff,
can you explain how how to fix the problem of wrong indication of temperature on the Fuel Temp gauge? I contacted ProMagenta about this and they told me to talk to you!
Question 2:
can you confirm where the physical min. and max stop positions of the pointer of the Fuel Temp gauge should be? On my gauge, min. it is like 12 mm below the -50 Deg. mark (with other words: OFF the printed scale in an anti-clockwise direction).
I posted these questions some days ago and got no answers.
At the price I paid for the gauges I would expect some more attention and meaningful feedback to customers problems!

Hi Simbuff,
sorry, I did not mean to be harsh...
Can you explain how the calibration works for the OHP gauges? I do not seem to be able to do anything with my gauges in the G-Step control program. All I can do is move the needle and switch the light on or off. But any real calibration requires to enter the instrument type and face plate, and the Fuel Temp gauge does not appear in any of the drop down lists.
Question 2:
can you confirm where the min. position of the pointer should be? On my gauge, it is like 12 mm below the -50 Deg. mark (with other words: anti-clockwise off the printed scale).
Thanks in advance,
Hans

Hi Simbuff,
do you still stop by this forum?
I would love to get some (any) reaction to my question about the OHP instruments...
Hans

Hi,
I have the Fuel Temp gauge installed in my OHP and it is recognized by PM-Systems.
The problem: the gauge shows always exactly 20 degrees less than PM-Systems shows on the screen. I.e., if according to PM-Sys. the fuel temp. is 20 degrees, my gauge shows "0"
I did not modify the flightillusion.ini file (only removed the "//" in front of the line for the Fuel Temp gauge.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Best regards,
Hans

Thanks, Pete!
this info should be enough to get me going.

Hi Pete,
I am using FS Communicator by Robert Fischer as middleware for my EPIC setup. I want to program outer, middle and inner markers.
I belief I need to define two qprocs per marker, one for "marker on", one for "marker off".
The documentation says (example):
0BB0 2 Outer Marker: activated when TRUE
Do you happen to know what needs to be set in FS-Com? I know how to send values to or toggle individual bits of an offset, but I do not know what to do with the TRUE and FALSE states of this offset...
Thanks in advance for your comments!
Regards,
Hans

The pmsystems.ini file contains these lines:
[Comm]
PFCComm= 0
PFC9600=Off
/ PFC Hardware Communication Settings
FlightIllusionComm= 0
/ Flight Illusion Connection settings
/ (see their documentation)
FlightIllusionFullScan= 0
/ Will scan device IDs from 1 to
/ 255
Where is that documentation mentioned here? I have pmsystems Build88, and I have Flight Illusion instruments. And I am stuck! Where do I find information on how to make my instruments work?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hans

Vancouver and BC are definitly on my list! But it is a far-away destinatin for me, and lately I started to really hate the long haul flights in coach...

Hi,
anybody knows if FS Navigator costs any FPS in FS9?
Hans
-
Hi Holger,
yes, they were all commercial jets, fighting for the runways... I did not get close enough in the Robinson to make out the liveries.
Anyway, last night I did some more flights in the area, and when I came back this time there were no aeral trafic jams! So it seems this was just a one time occurance...
And again: very nice scenery - it made me extend my stay in BC (usually I do city pairs around North America and the Caribean in a B737, without using the GoTo Airport function. So Vancouver+ was like a little vacation :-)).
All the best,
Hans

Hi,
last nite I installed Vancouver+. To discover the new scenery I flew the Robinson 22 Helicopter from CYVR to downtown Vancouver and to some of the valleys to the North. What a beautiful scenery! Absolutely superb - my congratulations!
But when I came back to CYVR after 40 min., the airport area was swarming with AI Planes, maybe 30 or 40 of them. They looked like formations of planes during a WWII bombing raid - rather scary and totally unrealistic!
There was no vertical or lateral separation, and most of the planes had to execute missed approaches.
This has not happend before (installing Vancouver+). Who can shed some light on this and most important: how to fix it?
I use My Traffic 2006. AI is set to 35%.

Hans

Hi,
I would like to know if FS Navigator's flight plans (in FS9 format) are compatible with Project Magenta software.
Or:
Does the Export to FS9 produce a 100% FS9 compatible flight plan file (in which case it should be compatible to PM)?
I am asking this because I tried FS Build and it is not compatible with PM, even after exporting the plan to FS9 format (which should make it compatible with PM).
Thanks for your comments!
