  1. Hi Peter

    Me again.

I decided to buy a new computer in anticipation of fsx . I got it last week and set up fs9.1 and fsx

I purchased and registered fsuipc and widefs , and started by setting up fs9.1 to make sure the computer was running properly

The problem I am having is that widefs client will connnect to the server , but only for a short time, after several seconds ( 15?) it drops the connection. Now I can send you the logs tonight , but I wondered given all of your experience if there is one particular reason for this . The only change I made to the client ini was to add the server name. I did not specify the ip address.

I am only running avs on the client at this time,

Thank you for all of you prior help.

    peter

  2. Good morning Peter

As a follow up to last weeks saga of dropped connections between the server and cl. I decided to do the following

I changed the switch from a dlink 1 gb /10/100 switch to a simple hub and fixed the ip ( tcp/ip ) on both machines.

    Everything is working.

And I have not had a dropped connection in 48 hours. I really think this was a hardware / speed? issue . Not software. Thank you and have a great day

    Peter

  3. As requested, hope this is not too much info. The only thing I found odd was an older version of widefs in my modules folder. 6.5 not 6.7

  4. Good morning Peter

So in my quest to everything running perfectly I was trying to get trafficlook running on a widefs client

as i mentioned it works perfectly on the fs pc

but im interested to see why it wont see the data on the server when i run it on my widefs client

    It just sits there blank

I asked this yesterday but wondered if there something I can do to point the program to the widefs server.

Seems odd that it just does not display any info. If i run it on the fs machine all of the info is visible. The problem is i have too much running on the server so it would be handy to get it running on the 2nd machine

    Peter

  5. Thank you for the prompt reply

Well, I will check avs, the last thing one needs is a heavily loaded 747 in transition and the screen goes blank as the fs traffic dialog box scrolls.

One other important thing and it might give you a hint, When the screen comes back and the traffic dialog closes the engines ( on auto throttle) will immediatly wind down and then wind back up to resume where they were before the dialog came on.

    It sounds crazy, but true!.

    Peter

  6. I am running two computers with a registered version of fsuipc and widefs

I sometimes have a strange thing happen,

" I am running fs on one machine, on the other avs 6 for weather, The program will write to the fs computer and everything work fine when connected,

    BUT

when it writes the weather a fs dialogue box comes up that says " fs traffic" and the screen goes black until the weather is writing. I know its not writing traffic , its writing wx from the other machine.

The question is. What setting can i turn off in fsuipc to ensure this does not happen. . I hope I have made the problem clear.

sometimes when it writes weather it does not do this and the ex scroll across the top of the page (it always does this correctly when writing from vatsim)

    Peter

  7. yes, use the 737 export module for the 747. I use it frequently for my 747 flights and it works very well.[/quote

thanks I think i had something corrupt in the fsnav program , because i would export but the "legs " would not be there, i updated the airac and reinstalled fsnov and it seems ok now, very very strange..

  8. Well it just goes to show that , with a lot of help one can work through anything,, I removed all instances of spx, and then cleaned up the network coeections ( mappings ) a bit and it connected. I hope i can remember what I did, in case it fails again..

Thanks for all of your assistance today

By the way . now that i have been looking at these logs, do you publish a list of the error codes. maybe that would be helpful. I am sure you have been asked the same questions 1000's of times,,

    regards

  9. Peter I only included that bit about fsuipc in the event it might be helpful

Interestingly the computers can see each other and all network drives. I made sure that windows firewall is turned off so that , that was not a problem, I dont even know why i have spx on the machine, i dont think it serves any purpose. since i sent you that log I have done the following

added servername = ptxmain to the winclient ini

    and

i have the following errors in the log

28797 error on client preconnection select () error = 10060 connection timed out

  10. Ok pete, here is what i did, I downloaded the most recent fsuipc

    and reloaded widefs

Hope you can see the error...

  11. Hi Peter

so everything was working between my two machines, I installed the most recent fsuipc , i have a 1 gig ethernet connection. I upgraded my active sky now asv wont find my fs running . by now i think it is something with widefs becuase i dont see myself when using whazzup or servinfo on the second pc and asv wont connect.. is there a utility out there to sort this out.. Last week every worked perfectly

    thanks

  12. well i was not using a mac that runs as a pc. I was trying to determine if it was possible to add it in using a mac version of widefs and then go looking for a mac app that would allow me to add another view to fs. The idea was to keep this very very simple.

But if its is not possible .... no big deal.. P

  13. What is the easiest way to find an airway. I was flying out of Punta Cana and the controller changed my ifr clearance. He sent me to an airway to intercept my filed plan at a vor. The problem was the fsnav search page did not yield the airway via search. If a search does not come up with the airway or fix ( and one does not have every chart at hand), Is there another reference or way of finding the info.

    thanks....

  14. Thanks for all of your help on this issue, I finally determined what I was doing wrong. I was making a mistake.

What i was doing incorrect was engaging the fs flyflightplan button and also the nav1 button in the fsnavigator panel. This caused the plane to disengage everytime i came to the fix.

What actually works is to simply hit the fly flight plan button and let it do all of the work, So simple , Maybe this might help someone in the future.

    thanks again.

  15. thank you for the reply

    1. here is what i did, I created a flight plan in fsnavigator

when i take off i engage the fly flight plan and ap on the fsnavigator menu

the nav button is engaged. I thought the program would simply fly the flightplan but what actually happens it seems is that the program does not go fix to fix. At the fix the program will disengage the nav in the fs navigator and fly straight until i push the button. I have the mode button set to automatic.

the only thing i can think of is that the fix ( vor's) are set too far apart in the plan and hence the autopilot will not pick up the next fix and turns off

    thoughts???
