Peter Cleaver Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I am using FSUIPC Version 3.135 with Microsoft Flight Sim 2004. I am also using a GoFlight TQ6 throttle control unit. Most things work o.k. but not the flaps setting. If I try to set the flaps using your program then the effect is that when the lever is at full flaps then so are the flaps. But as the lever is moved slowly towards zero flaps the actual flaps ( and the lever in the FS2004) follow the setting until the lever is about half way when suddenly the flaps return quickly to full flaps. If I disable your programme's control of the flaps setting, then the TQ6 cannot make the flaps go to zero - only 2 degrees. I suspect that your programme overrides the "calibration" system for the joysticks within Windows Me as the "Apply" box is unavailable. I also have a view that at the settings require a change from -ve to +ve numbers, that one of the programmes is not interpreting this properly. Can you help?
Pete Dowson Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 If I try to set the flaps using your program then the effect is that when the lever is at full flaps then so are the flaps. But as the lever is moved slowly towards zero flaps the actual flaps ( and the lever in the FS2004) follow the setting until the lever is about half way when suddenly the flaps return quickly to full flaps. Sounds like something odd is happening in the GoFlight driver. All FSUIPC does is read the value coming in on the axis and set the flaps accordingly, nothing more. Try calibrating again. If I disable your programme's control of the flaps setting, then the TQ6 cannot make the flaps go to zero - only 2 degrees. Ah, well -- that does indicate something wrong with the calibration. Cannot GoFlight sort this out for you? I thought they had later driver versions to calbrate analogue axes better? I suspect that your programme overrides the "calibration" system for the joysticks within Windows Me as the "Apply" box is unavailable. No, it cannot. FSUIPC is only trapping the final input to FS before the value is sent to the simulation engine. It is far far away from the joystick and calibration interface, it is merely dealing with FS control values. If you have trouble calibrating you really do need to seek help from GoFlight. Regards, Pete
