namron2 Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Please forgive me if this question has already been asked but I was unable find any reference to it on the board. I would like to program the chase view as if I had pressed the 'S" button 3 times I am able to program a basic 'S' press on a button but, in order to reach the view I want, I have to press the assigned joystic button 3 times (cycling through the various chase modes) Is there a way I can program the button so that when I press and hold it, this simulates the 'S' key being pressed 3 times and , when I release the button, send a basic 'S' key press once to release the chase view? The idea is to get a close up chase view while I hold the button and to cancel chase view on release of the button? thank you Norm Mc parland
Pete Dowson Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Is there a way I can program the button so that when I press and hold it, this simulates the 'S' key being pressed 3 times and , when I release the button, send a basic 'S' key press once to release the chase view? Yes, but to do this you'll need to edit the FSUIPC.INI file. First program it for one 'S' when pressed, and another when released. Then close FS and open FSUIPC.INI for editing (Notepad will do). Look for the [buttons] section and find the two lines encoding your requests -- you may need to refer to the Advanced User's guide for FSUIPC to interpret the list if you've got a load. Just make two more copies of the press line, add them to the end (renumbering the sequence numbers on the left of the '=' to follow the sequence), and you're done. You won't be able to edit these in FSUIPC's options after this -- the dialogue isn't suited to any complex assignments. An alternative, if you'd like a smaller chase view superimposed on your normal view, is to assign a button to the "Chase view toggle" FS control. Regards, Pete
namron2 Posted May 13, 2004 Author Report Posted May 13, 2004 Sir, I have been using FSUIPC as a free program for a long time. I use it with WideView( 6 monitors, 3 PC's and 767PIC) Untill I decided to read the documentation and visit this forum (only last night), I did not realize the full potential of this program. Since reading the info yesterday, I have reprogrammed my throttle to include reverse thrust and also done some button programming (not bad for an old fella just this side of 60?) I guess the old adage applies, when everything else fails, read the instructions. :D Only after visiting this forum, for the first time, did I find out that a registered version was available. Your prompt response, coupled with the capabilities of the software, leave me no option, but to gladlysubscibe. I will do this as soon as I finish this message. Thanks again Peter. Sincerely Norm Mc Parland
Pete Dowson Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Sir, I wish you'd just call me 'Pete', much less formal. :D Since reading the info yesterday, I have reprogrammed my throttle to include reverse thrust and also done some button programming This must be with FS2002 and version 2.xx of FSUIPC? Because since version 3 those facilities, still improving, are only available to registered users. (not bad for an old fella just this side of 60?) You are on the 'good' side of 60 still? I'm coming up for 61 soon. :( Your prompt response, coupled with the capabilities of the software, leave me no option, but to gladlysubscibe. Thank you very much! Please also be sure to download the latest version, 3.22, from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson. And check the site once a month or so -- or review the Release notices at the top of this Forum now and then. I always post details of each version's changes there as well as in the History document inside the Zip. Regards, Pete
namron2 Posted May 13, 2004 Author Report Posted May 13, 2004 Yes I do use 2002 as PIC not fully compatible with 2004. I have now registered and will download and install latest version. Thanks again Norm
