WHATS WRONG

Recommended Posts

:?: I just installed for FS2002 & FS2004 the FSUIPC 3 and purchase for $25.00 U.S. my registration key. After installing the FSUIPC.dll 3.4.8.0 I noticed BIG changes with both FS2002 & FS2004.Everytime I startup either FS2002 or FS2004 everything is very slow, much slower then it was before. I then had to uninstall FS2002 for another reason and it would not uninstall at all,I ended up having to end the program and ended up with DON'T TELL MICROSOFT. I then decided to remove manually the FSUIPC.dll module and it's registration module or whatever and guess what, FS2002 uninstalled right away after I removed the FSUIPC.dll module. This really bothers me that both FS2002 & FS2004 do not run as fast as they did before installing the FSUIPC 3 and it really bothers me that I just put out $25.00 for all of this confusion. Is anyone else having any of these slow startups with either FS2002 or FS2004 ? I go to load up an aircraft and click FLY NOW and that takes for ever, seems like something is wrong with that FSUIPC 3 module because before everything worked just fine. I hope you can tell me whats going on so I can fix it or replace it with another FSUIPC module that will work with the Vatsim Squawkbox 3 thats out now, thanks! 8)

Since FSUIPC is a freestanding DLL that interferes with absolutely nothing else in FS, or even in your Windows system, you have something else going on there. Maybe whatever is using FSUIPC? Why did you install it? What is using it? You need to look at such things. There is absolutely no way simply having FSUIPC in the FS Modules folder will stop uninstallation -- all that will happen is that, as with any add-ons, the uninstaller will tell you it couldn't remove everything, so you just then delete the add-ons separately.

This really bothers me that both FS2002 & FS2004 do not run as fast as they did before installing the FSUIPC 3

With the default settings FSUIPC makes FS2002 actually run faster. On FS2004 there is no measurable effect of having it installed.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you've done. Either something you've installed is using FSUIPC and it is that which runs slower when enabled, or you have something badly corrupted somewhere. Is there anything in the FSUIPC.LOG file? Have you looked? See the FS Modules folder. Als just delete your FSUIPC.INI file so it makes a new one -- maybe you have something scrambling it.

You haven't got any add-in DLLs in the main FS folder too, have you? Not another copy of FSUIPC there too?

and it really bothers me that I just put out $25.00 for all of this confusion.

Why did you buy it? Was it installed before you bought it? Did it make a difference just registering it? Why automatically assume it is all FSUIPC's fault?

I go to load up an aircraft and click FLY NOW and that takes for ever, seems like something is wrong with that FSUIPC 3 module because before everything worked just fine.

But FSUIPC is not doing anything then. In fact it never really does anything until it is asked to do so. It really sounds like you have something else installed which is responsible for these things. Please show me the FSUIPC log.

You should try uninstalling each add-on you have, on at a time, till you find the problem. Merely uninstalling FSUIPC will tell you nothing as that will simply stop absolutely everything that uses FSUIPC from operating correctly -- so you will still be none the wiser.

I hope you can tell me whats going on so I can fix it or replace it with another FSUIPC module that will work with the Vatsim Squawkbox 3 thats out now, thanks! 8)

There is only ever one currently released and supported version of FSUIPC, and that is 3.48 at present. There is a Beta version available above, and this will be released as 3.50 shortly. But SB3 will work with 3.48 fine. Many are using it.

Pete

8) Thanks so much for replying,I just woke up after going to bed at wee hours in the morning trying to figure out what is going on. I finally decided to uninstall both FS2002 & FS2004 completely and after I make your reply I'm going to reinstall everything. Last night I also ran my Windows XP Backup disk that I made at the time when I reinstalled my Windows just to make sure everything has been corrected or fixed within my system. You have ask so many questions and I guess I will start out here first.

1st) I always thought FS2002 and FS9 had their own FSUIPC.dll module file in the Module folder and I haven't seen one listed at all after I fixed the view so all hidden files would be seen, there is none in either one and if there is - where ?

2nd) I first downloaded your 3.4.8.0 FSUIPC or FSUIPC 3 from your site and installed it into both FS2002 & FS2004,thats what I did first. I ran both FS2002 & FS2004 and got that message telling me that the FSUIPC was not registered so I decided because I wanted it to work when I fly on Vatsim to go ahead and pay the U.S. $25.00 so my FSUIPC would be registered to me and so I would not have any problems with the newest Squawkbox 3 that allows you to connect to Vatsim.

3rd) After I registered and it then told me that my copy was registered to me I started up FS2002.To asnswer your question I have alot of purchased add-ons installed in both FS2002 & FS2004 from Flight1-Dreamfleet-Justflight and from others.I don't install the free aircraft downloads anymore that you can download from Flightsim.com,too many install problems so I pay top dollar for all my aircraft.I also have purchase scenery add-ons installed too like FS Flight Enviroment from Flight1.

What I'm going to do first is reinstall both FS2002 & FS2004orFS9 and without installing any add-ons I'm going to run both to see what happens. If it does the same thing as before then it most likely is a Windows XP problem or computer issue. If everything checks out and everything runs as it is supposed too then I'm going to first check my MODULES FOLDER in both FS2002 & FS2004 for any FSUIPC.DLL File and remove them if I see one. Then I will install your new 3.4.8.0 FSUIPC.dll file along with the registered file into both FS2002 & FS 2004 and startup both to see what happens. If it runs like it should after putting in my Key Number when ask then it could be a AIRCRAFT ADD-ON ISSUE that was causing all of this. All I can do is check out everything in small steps to located the problem.

I have one question when I reinstall SQUAWKBOX 3 will it install a FSUIPC.dll file as part of its install process or do you know ? If so then mabe I ended up with two FSUIPC files and that was a issue, I don't know so I'm asking.

I was hoping to fly on Vatsim today but looks like this is going to be a reinstall day instead,I just hope I don't have to uninstall Windows XP and reinstall it to address this issue because that would be a 16 hr for me reinstall just to get everything back into my system.I have alot of music software along with flight software that would need to be reinstalled and all of that takes time. You see when I install something I don't just start installing it,I prepare windows first by checking for errors within windows and defrag then reboot before I install the product and then I do the same for each and everthing else I need to reinstall. Everything gets checked and then rechecked before moving on to another step. As you can see for me reinstalling is very time consuming if I have to start fresh again with Windows XP Home Edition professional with Service Pack 2 installed.

I will get to the bottom of my issues either today I hope or the next day and thanks again for your help, maybe I can straighten these issues out ASP. :) I will check back later to let you know what happens or to see if you have any suggestions. It looks as you covered just about everything with your reply but you never know something new my pop up, thanks!

ErI don't really understand this question. FSUIPC does not come with FS, it is a separate module which I produced originally for FS2000 but continuously enganced for years to keep it useful with each FS version. It is not installed when you install FS, and there's not a different version for each FS.

I first downloaded your 3.4.8.0 FSUIPC or FSUIPC 3 from your site and installed it into both FS2002 & FS2004,thats what I did first.

I don't actually have a site -- this Forum is the closest. My FS programs are distributed to over 50 websites, but not all of them put them all up -- the one I refer folks to most is Enrico Schiratti's website as he puts all of my programs on one web page.

I ran both FS2002 & FS2004 and got that message telling me that the FSUIPC was not registered

Where did you get that message? FSUIPC doesn't issue any such message. An unregistered message may warn you if you try to use an unaccredited program with it, but nothing more.

Perhaps you simply mean the text on the firsdt page of the Options?

so I decided because I wanted it to work when I fly on Vatsim to go ahead and pay the U.S. $25.00 so my FSUIPC would be registered to me and so I would not have any problems with the newest Squawkbox 3 that allows you to connect to Vatsim.

None of the programs you need to run for Vatsim need you to register FSUIPC. They are all free and all have a free access key for access to FSUIPC. Paying for and registering FSUIPC will make no difference to any of that. You only need to pay if you want to use the extra facilities in FSUIPC shown in the documentation.

All I can do is check out everything in small steps to located the problem.

Yes, that is best.

I have one question when I reinstall SQUAWKBOX 3 will it install a FSUIPC.dll file as part of its install process or do you know ?

I have no idea, sorry. I don't fly on-line. Some installers do install FSUIPC but the better ones should check whether you already have a later version installed. The docs that come with SB3 should tell you, because if it doesn't install FSUIPC it would tell you to do so.

If so then mabe I ended up with two FSUIPC files and that was a issue

No. You can't have two files with the same name in the same folder. Windows doesn't allow that. Do not rename FSUIPC at all. But all recent versions of FSUIPC check for duplicates even with renaming and you would get an error telling you this. The only thing which can go wrong is if any add-on DLL gets placed in the main FS folder as well as or instead of the Modules folder. It seems FS can sometimes load those too.

I will check back later to let you know what happens or to see if you have any suggestions. It looks as you covered just about everything with your reply but you never know something new my pop up, thanks!

Okay. Yes, do let me know if you do find anything, or, better, sort it out. There's nothing I can think of adding because it isn't a symptom that anyone else has ever reported that I can remember at all.

Pete

 If I look confused it is because I am now,I just uninstalled FS2004 or FS9 and did a clean reinstall.I rebooted and then tried to startup a CLEAN FS2004 with nothing added to it period. Now I'm getting this error message ( Aircraft Initialization Failure Skyhawk 172R ) and then FS2004 shuts down and goes back to my desktop. I had a add-on installed by Flight1 called the Cessna 172R and a week later they came out with this UPDATE 1.3 to fix a TRIM issue. When I tried to uninstall that UPDATE before I uninstalled FS2004 it would not uninstall only the Cessna 172R airplane. Now I stuck with its either because of that Cessna 172R UPDATE thats causing all of this or something else, I'm about ready to pull my hair out that is if I don't lose it before I pull it out, just kidding! It looks as if I will have to uninstall Windows XP in order to get rid of that update or to fix everything. I wish I would had know that you really didn't need your FSUIPC to be registered in order to use SQUAWKBOX 3 . Six months ago when I first started learning about Vatsim I was told that I needed the FSUIPC.dll to be registered in FS2004 only. Thats when I started using your old FS2002 FSUIPC.dll module and using FS2002 to fly with. It was before you started charging and it did work and I did do some Vatsim flying. Anyway thats the only reason for putting out the extra money for my registered Key so I could start using FS2004 to fly with on Vatsim. Many of my new add-ons now will only work in FS2004 and before using FS2002 it meant not flying with my new FS2004 add-ons so I thought it would be worth the extra cost to register your product so I can use them to fly with . I'm waiting to hear from Flight1 on uninstalling their UPDATE for the Skyhawk 172R.Thanks and I get back later on with added news,I hope I can fix these issues so I don't have to uninstall Windows XP.

An aircraft initialisation failure is normally recoverable. It means it tried loading the aircraft specified in the default flight set by your FS9.CFG file but couldn't because some essential part was missing. FS will then simply revert to the default flight.

The default aircraft installed include a Skyhawk 172 but I think it's the 172SP not the 172R.

When you uninstall FS I don't think it uninstalls the personalised bits like your saved Flights (in your "My Documents\Flight Simularor Files" folder), or the main FS9 configuation file, FS9.CFG.

For a clean, initial-state, FS9 you must delete the FS9.CFG file before you boot FS9. To do this, find it in

Documents and Settings//Aoolication Data/Microsoft/FS9. In fact if you really want a completely clean install, delete that folder before installing FS9 again.

Six months ago when I first started learning about Vatsim I was told that I needed the FSUIPC.dll to be registered in FS2004 only. Thats when I started using your old FS2002 FSUIPC.dll module and using FS2002 to fly with. It was before you started charging

No, FSUIPC paid registration has been in operation for over two years now. Six months ago in FS2002 you must have been using a two-year-old unsupported version of it.
