Pete Dowson Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 The installation does not generate an addon tab in the menu bar. I have tried everything as listed in the stickies. Something is seriously wrong with either the FSX SimConnect installation, or a security ptrogram (firewall or antivirus or similar) is interfering. I notice you had 4.10 installed before 4.103. Was that the same? Has it been the same since you installed SP1? ...Running inside FSX (SimConnect SP1 May07) 1672 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 26000 Failed on SimConnect_CallDispatch for Message, return = 0xC000013E ... 86282 Now running with SimConnect Original 86282 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 91469 Failed on SimConnect_CallDispatch for Message, return = 0xC000020D These error returns -- especially a different one from SP1's SimConnect and from the original release SimConnect -- should mean something, so I'll ask Microsoft. But meanwhile you should send all this information to tell_fs@microsoft.com, along with as much information about your system as possible, especially security type add-on programs. If you had it all working with FSX before you applied SP1 then something must have gone wrong during the install. When you say you tried everything from the "stickies", did you include repairing SimConnect as listed in the FSX Help Announcement? It may be that you need to do that again, but this time delete BOTH of the WinSxS SimConnect folders -- there will be one for 60905 and one for 61242. Then run the FSX repair from the DVD, then uninstall SP1 and re-install it. That's the only way i know until we get better guidance from MS. Regards Pete
Pete Dowson Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Running inside FSX (SimConnect SP1 May07) 1672 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 26000 Failed on SimConnect_CallDispatch for Message, return = 0xC000013E ... 86282 Now running with SimConnect Original 86282 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 91469 Failed on SimConnect_CallDispatch for Message, return = 0xC000020D According to Microsoft, these errors, along with the "inactive" log entries in the SimConnect log file, definitely point to a firewall or anti-virus or some other security program blocking or severely slowing the TCP/IP link between SimConnect and FSX. So, please can you answer these questions: 1. Were you running FSX + FSUIPC before applying the SP1 update? If so have you changed anything else? 2. What anti-virus, firewall and other security software are you using, please? We need this information to determine whether something has changed in this area with SP1, and also to add to the list of problem programs whichever ones you are using. Then, I can only suggest reviewing your firewall and anti-virus settings, or even trying uninstall, test, re-install, test. Maybe even there are known solutions for the programs you are using. Let us know what they are. Regards Pete
GEEZO Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 Answer to query 1. No, but I was running autothumbnail. As of this time that will not work either. Answer to query 2. I am using AOL virus protection And firewall. I disabled all my on line protection and it still does not work. I am using a wirelesss router. Are there port(s) that should be open? I removed SP1 and ran the repair utility. Still does not work. Autothumbnail does not work either. Pete Dowson Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Answer to query 1. No, but I was running autothumbnail. As of this time that will not work either. I'm not surprised. No SimConnect add-ons will work if SimConnect cannot talk to FSX. Answer to query 2. I am using AOL virus protection And firewall. I disabled all my on line protection and it still does not work. I am using a wirelesss router. Are there port(s) that should be open? No, I don't think it is anything to do with ports. But possibly that security program is blocking FSX and SimConnect from talking to each other. It really is the only possibility. You need to make sure it allows FSX to use TCP/IP freely. I removed SP1 and ran the repair utility. Still does not work. Autothumbnail does not work either. It's exactly the same problem. Should I assume from this that you've NEVER managed to run FSX+SimConnect properly? It is important to know if something has changed, or this is just another one of the many cases of security programs blocking FSX good and proper? If you never had it all working, please visit the FSInsider website for advice. Microsoft did point out these firewall problems last year. Regards Pete
GEEZO Posted May 23, 2007 Author Report Posted May 23, 2007 Before Sp1 I was running autothumbail. I installed SP1 and autothumbnail quit talking to whomever. Then I tried FSUIPC. No talkie. My firewall always askes if I should allow the connection to the internet. My third grade logic tells me there is a bug in SP1 that wasn't picked up by the beta testers. Again. BEFORE SP1 simconnect was working. AFTER SP1 simconnect quit working for these programs. Conclusion----BUG in SP1. Paul
Pete Dowson Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Before Sp1 I was running autothumbail. I installed SP1 and autothumbnail quit talking to whomever. With the same sort of error? Were you using this AOL software before, and autothumbnail worked? The fact that autothumbnail stopped working in SP1 may simply mean it isn't compatible with some changes between the original version of FSX and SP1. There have been a lot of changes, and compatibility is only guaranteed for those programs which played exactly by the rules. FSUIPC4 had to be changed to work properly because of some intricate arrangements, unpublished links. Then I tried FSUIPC. No talkie. My firewall always askes if I should allow the connection to the internet. What connection to the Internet? Nothing to do with FSUIPC or SimConnect makes any connection to the Internet, so that is irrelevant. The connection which is being blocked, or slowed too much (more than 3 seconds I'm told) is between one part of FSX (SimConnect) and another part (FSX.EXE and its constituent modules in the FSX folder). Again. BEFORE SP1 simconnect was working. AFTER SP1 simconnect quit working for these programs. Conclusion----BUG in SP1. Okay, if you think that rather than a problem with AOL, please report it with all the relevant details, to Microsoft Tech Support, and also send it all to tell_fs@microsoft.com. Regards Pete
