Hi,

am running FSX SP1 (with SDK installed) and have have a registered version of FSUIPC and WIDEFS installed (unsure of version at the moment, but will update when I get home).

All appears to be working fine, have got it all working with Simmconnect etc so I can use FSUIPC and ASX on a remote pc.

However I am trying to install the latest version of FSUIPC (the version I have installed is possibly a pre SP1 version) and the installer keeps crashing, no error message aside from the error reporting tool message.

Any ideas why this may be happening?

I am not running any AV or Firewalls etc on the system.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you have previously installed FSUIPC4 then you should have a FSUIPC4.dll in your X:\\Microsoft Simulator X\Modules folder. To update go to the to of this page under " FSX DOWNLOADS and UPDATES [9th October 2007] " dl the FSUIPC ver 4.174 its a zip file - unzip and copy the FSUIPC4.dll and overwrite your copy. If not follow PeteD's instructions in this post. Its that easy.

No, because more information is needed. Does it produce a Log (in the Modules folder of FSX)? Does it show an installation window with details? And the "error reporting tool" message has ways of getting lots more information -- I need some of that. Please take a closer look at it.

But first and foremost I need the version. If it isn't the current one (4.16) go get that first please.

Pete,

sorry for the delay in getting back to you havent had a chance to get to my pc for a couple of days.

The version I was trying to install was version 4.16

Have just loaded flightsim to see what version I have installed and depsite the installer crashing it would appear it did install something as it says that I have version 4.16 installed. Checking the DLL also gives version 4.1.6, 28/08/2007 05:01

for what it is worth the error looks like this:

Would you like me to send you the windows debub/dump file? (is a little large to post here)

also, this is a list of all the processes running on the machine:

Thanks,

Marc

Okay. Two things:

1. From the log window shown behind the error it seems the Install process got as far as reading your existing DLL.XML file then crashed. Whilst that should not happen, it seems that there is some format of DLL.XML that my code cannot handle properly. I would like to find out what that is, URGENTLY, so I can fix it before my next release, which must go out on Tuesday next to coincide with Acceleration X's release.

So, could you please either cut and paste the whole of that file into a message here, or ZIP it and send it to me at petedowson@btconnect.com? You will find it here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Vicky\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

2. Please note that blue "click here" part of the Error Report. Could you do that and either write down or capture a pic, please? This will help in case I cannot reproduce the problem.

No thanks.

What other SimConnect-using add-ins have you installed (apart from ASX on a remote PC, which won't use the DLL.XML file)? Are you using any of the add-ins from the FSX SDK? If you've nothing else you could try deleting (or just renaming) the DLL.XML file -- the FSUIPC4 Installer will create a new one.

Anyway, the installer did get past the point where it had installed FSUIPC4 itself, you just won't have had the updated documentation also installed. So you can carry on -- but I'd like to fix the problem anyway, of course.

Regards

Pete
