Pete, I have not used WideFS with FSX for a long time. I usually go with the Simconnect program. Today I was having issues with my mapping program (FSEARTH for FSX) and decided to try using Quickmap with WideFS to flight follow. I get the Wideserver waiting for Clients at the top of the screen and I start WideFS (latest versions) on my Second PC. It never connects. I looked at the Wideclient log and this is what is says:::

11906 Trying TCP/IP host "DADS" port 8002 ...

11906Okay, IP Address = 192.168.27.101

11906 Connection made okay!

12203 Connection closed by server!

12203 Attempting to connect now

14906 Server = DADS

14906Okay, IP Address = 192.168.27.101

14906 Connection made okay!

15016 Connection closed by server!

My WideServer log says this:::

I have used WideFS with FS9 for a long time so I am sure I have it set up correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Ken

I looked at the Wideclient log and this is what is says:::

I wish you'd not chop the beginning of the Log off. What version of WideClient is it?

This report

"Connection closed by server!"

is usually down to firewall type blocks. Check both ends to make sure.

My WideServer log says this:::

There's no sign of any connection. Are you sure the two logs relate to the same test?

There is no difference in how WideFS works with FS9 and FSX, and the Client end should be absolutely identical.

Please change the Log=... entry in both INI files (WideClient.INI and the [WideServer] section of FSUIPC4.INI) to "Log=Debugall" and run a short test, just long enough to show a problem. Retain BOTH logs complete, don't chop them up, ZIP them and send them to petedowson@btconnect.com.

I'm afraid after tomorrow (Monday) afternoon I am away for 8 days, then back for only a couple of days before going away again till December 4th, so it may not get attention till then.

Regards,

Pete

Pete, no problem I could use a vacation also. I can live with out it so enjoy your time away. Ken

First 8 days is no holiday -- in Seattle with Microsoft, then the AVSIM FANCON. Hectic, exhausting. The three weeks after is the holiday! ;-)

Pete, enjoy the beautifull Pacific Northwest. It is trully one of the USA's greatest areas. Have fun. Ken

Hmm. I don't think I'll have enough time, at least in the daylight hours. As I say, it'll be hectic. Work work work. (Well hobby-turned work, but still ...)

And I'll have no transport in any case (I am not allowed to drive because of my partial sight problems). I've always found the U.S. pretty difficult for non-drivers.

The holiday is in Argentina and Chile -- another steam railway tour! ;-)

Pete, by changing SimConnects port to 8100 I was able to fix my problem. I found I had used the port 8002 for SimConnect which is the same as WideFS. Thanks for your help and enjoy your Trip. Ken
