Hi all,

i am thinking about buying WideFS. Crucial point is, will it run onmy Small Business Server? Will it there support Active Sky. OK, the latter question should be asked somewhere else, but i would appreciate an answer to the SBS-question.

Best to all

What's a "Small business Server"? What version of Windows is it? WideFS runs on most versions of Windows since and including Win98, though I'm a little dubious about WinNT4 and earlier on that line.

Will it there support Active Sky.

Sorry, no idea whether Active Sky works on whatever version of Windows you are talking about.

If it's a current version of Windows, wouldn't these things be supported in any case? Doesn't Microsoft try to provide some level of compatibility?

Pete, thanks a lot for your fast reply.

The Small Business Server is a product line from MS consisting of SharePoint, Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server and a few other features which make me as a self employed person highly flexible (insert more marketing language here).

Point is, the server is running 24/7, i do not use it to it´s full capacity at all and it would make good sense to me if i were able to partly integrate it´s probable capabilities into my hobby by using it´s ressources outside of FS....which would be theoretically possible with WideFS...

I guess there is no way to give the whole scenario a testrun in case you have no information about server 2003?

Best and cheers in advance!!!

So it's using Windows Server 2003, which I believe is a development from Windows 2000? All my Windows programming books tell me that the Win32 API (application programming interface) is compatible across the range (unless you use very new stuff particular to later developments), so, since WideFS was developed on Win95 (originally), and continued working through Win98, Windows 2000, WindowsXP and Vista without any problems or specific changes ever actually needed, I'd be really amazed if it didn't work on Windows Server 2003.
