Hi to all,

Help please. I have bought a Saitek yolk and throttle system to replace my ch yolk, the reason being I could not get the chypolk to be recognised with FSUIPC in fsx, reading that saitek was fully FSX compliant and other people saying their Saiteks worked I purchased it. I am having the same problem with the Saitek as the CH yolk, it all works in FSX but I want to calibrate for reverers and no mattere what I try nothing shows in the Axis assignments for me to then calibrate the throttle,Any Ideas?

System

Vista 32 bit

2gb Ram

Athlon 64 dual core

FSX with SP2 and SDK full updates

FSUIPC 4.09

Any help please the lf FSUipc in FS9 with the CH yolk worked perfectly, now getting a bit cheesed, it must be something I am doing wrong.

Many thanks

Really? I've never heard of any CH device not being recognised at all.

Yoke? (A yolk is something different ;-) ).

If you aren't seeing anything at all of anything you connect something very fishy indeed is going on with your system. FSUIPC4 uses the standard DirectInput facilities, same as FSX, but it will only recognise the first 16 joystick type devices lodged in the Windows registry. Is it possible you have more than that? See if the Buttons & Switches facility sees any of the buttons on your device -- if not then the device is out of the 0-15 joystick range FSUIPC can cope with and you really need to start uninstalling some of your older unwanted drivers.

Also, please run the attached JoyView program, open up each of the 16 joysticks in turn and find out which number (1-16 I think) your Saitek device is detected under -- you'll need to move the axes or press some buttons.

FSUIPC 4.09

Ouch! FSUIPC 4.09 is very much out of date -- that was the version for the original release of FSX. Since then there have been several new major releases, a lot more counting interim updates. FSUIPC 4.10 was released for FSX+SP1, then, after several updates 4.20 for FSX+Acceleration or SP2. Why are you updating FSX but not FSUIPC?

There's a version 4.208 available in the Announcements above, but first you need to get 4.20 from the main site and run its installer.

I cannot support out of date versions at all. Please note the list of supported software versions in the Announcements.

Hi peter.

My mistake for misleading you, I had a CH Yolk and Pedals and now have a Saitek Yolk and throttle Quadrant and still using the CH pedals.

After posting the question I noticed that there was a 4.2 version, intalled this and , Bingo, the throttle axis was recognised in the calibration section and I can get reveres again,, the next step which is puzzling me is that the Quadrant has what seems to be a seperate section at the bottom of the three levers for reverse that are different " buttons" from the throttle and mixture and pitch levers, I have the throttle lever set with reverse, and I know this is really not a FSUIPC question but as you have one maybe a quick bit of helpful advice please as the SST manual seems to assume rather than explain..any advice or a point to a link would be gratefully received. it would be nice to have the throtlle come all the way to idle and then select the reverse part for actuall reverse. I have it all bar a couple of mm so it is close but moving it into the revrse section is a phantom action not a real effect." Clear as Mud?"

Many thanks again

Hi Pete.

Since my last reply I have established that the reverse section is indeed a sepereate "Button", so I can assign that to the key board command for reverse, F2 is the key command for reverse thrust, in the key assignment section and Button section I can't make out quite what the command is I need to select , it doesn't say throttle reverse just throttle cut, throttle inc,, etc

Tried again and realised that no command was needed for F2 and all is working fine with throttles and reverse thrust and assigning of buttons, I think my main problem was not the latest Version.

many thanks for your guidance and support.

I have the exact setup that you have and also having some problems. I can not get the calibration correctI'm sure that it is just something I don't fully understand and will continue to work on it. But one of the things I am trying to sort out is not so much reverse thrust but rather reverse prop pitch. I fly the default Baron and Goose. If I try and calibrate the prop pitch, when I have the throttles at idle and bring the prop pitch to 0 (min) the engines cut off. If I do not calibrate throttles, prop pitch, and mixture they seem to work okay. But I still can not figure out how to get the reverse prop pitch. I am using 2 throttle quads so have a lever for each engine. Been a bit frustrating. Any advice help would be great.

Thanks,

John

It is actually possible that this is correct. A zero prop pitch creates maximum resistance to the engine and an idle throttle setting may not generate enough torque to prevent stalling.

There's no reverse prop pitch on either the Baron or the Goose. And this is confirmed by checking the "prop_reverse_available" parameter in the Aircraft.CFG files. If you want to try something with a prop reverse facility you'll need to try the King Air.

Excellent Pete .... I can stop pulling my hair out now!!! :D

Man if everyone offered the same level of support you do it would be a more wonderful world!

Merry Christmas Pete and a Happy New Year.

Pete,

On this subject my mixture control is not recognised on FSUIPC, also on the 'Axis Assignment' window I cannot see 'joy'????

Any thoughts?

All other drivers are removed.
