Andydigital Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Hi Pete great work on the new option to enable the mouse wheel to be used for elevator trim. I have a question though, would it be possible to disable this function when the space bar is held down, so that the mouse wheel can be used for its default action of zooming the view while in mouse look mode. I really do love to use the mouse wheel as elevator trim, but its also very handy for zooming in on guages and stuff when in the VC. Thanks, Andy.

Ah, I don't know this "mouse look mode". Can you tell me more? It certainly is possible for me to make this change. Unfortunately, I've just finished finalising and releasing the biggest set of releases for a while -- 4.26 for FSX and 3.80 for everything else, along with fully updated documentation and SDK. A couple of days ago it would probably have been dead easy to "slip in". I am still developing FSUIPC4, but hopefully less so on FSUIPC3, so if I only do this change for FSX, is that okay? You failed to mention which it was you were using! I'm afraid it won't happen for at least three weeks either way though, as I am way from next Tuesday until the 24th and I am desperately trying to tidy up a load of stuff before I go! Regards Pete
Andydigital Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Oops sorry Pete i forgot the cardinal rule of not mentioning which version of FSUIPC i mean. It's version 4 for FSX and i think that "mouse look" only works in FSX, i certainly don't remember it in FS9. Basically when you hold the space bar down in FSX movement of the mouse results it a smooth panning of the view similar to TrackIR but using the mouse to supply inputs instead of the ir tracking device and hat etc. The mouse is also used for changing many switches and knobs as well when you hover the mouse pointer over the relevant item and then scroll the mouse wheel, so maybe an option to define another key to make the mouse do its default function here as well would be good. i.e. i can hover the mouse pointer over the heading bug knob and scroll the mouse wheel to change the heading bug. So to summarise: 1. Hold space bar to revert mouse wheel to default zoom function. 2. Hold another defineable key to make mouse wheel perform default function on switch or dial etc. Oh and p.s. fantastic work on the wind variance/smoothing and turbulence emulation, its truly amazing now what you have done with FSX thanks Pete. Regards, Andy.

Why not the same hot key for both? Or is the space bar a fixed thing? I can see I'll have to try this stuff. ;-) Regards Pete
Andydigital Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 I've been thinking a little more about this, and earlier i neglected to think of the easiest way around this problem, i.e. just have a definable hot key to turn the mouse wheel elevator trim on and off at will  . Regards, Andy.

Andydigital Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 OK thanks Pete, have a great holiday you certainly deserve it. Regards, Andy.
