TWTaylor Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 I just aquired and installed FSUIPC4. I have FSX installed on an external hard disk and when I checked the menu there was nl "Add-Ons" tab. FSUIPC4.dll is installed into the Modules folder. Do I need to do something different since I use an exteranl hard disk?
mtjoeng Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 prob not FSX location is defined in the registry and FSuipc location is found after start by the FSX /modules location as long as your external drive keeps the same driveletter ..
TWTaylor Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Posted March 18, 2008 Any suggestions on why I would not have the "Add-Ons" prompt when I'm running FSX? BTW, the FSUIPC.dll file is in the Modules folder on my FSX directory on the external hard disk.
Bill Dick Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 I had the same problem! If you are running Xp look in the control Panel\security Center\windows firewall\on the top menu you will see "Exceptions". Go to the Add program, then click on the browse button . locate where you have your external drive (G F H or whatever) where you have your FSX installed and that should do it, make sure you have a check mark on it. hope this helps Bill
TWTaylor Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 That was a no go. When I went into Windows Firewall I found that I could only add a program (hence its name) not a drive designation. I tried adding FSX. No "Add-Ons" tab. Then adding FSUIPC4.dll. Again no "Add-Ons" tab. Any other suggestions?
Pete Dowson Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Any suggestions on why I would not have the "Add-Ons" prompt when I'm running FSX? Sounds like a SimConnect problem. First, though, show me the Install and FSUIPC4 log files which you will find in the FSX Modules folder. There logs are produced to help resolve problems. Pete
Pete Dowson Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 ... Running inside FSX (SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07) ... 3141 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 28938 Exception 5 "VERSION_MISMATCH", Ref 0, Version 0.60905: Open: SimConnect Version incorrect! 28938 Trying another version of SimConnect ... 29078 NOTE: SimConnect SP1 May07 is supported, but it isn't installed. 29156 Now running with SimConnect Original 29188 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 29188 Exception 5 "VERSION_MISMATCH", Ref 0, Version 0.60905: Open: SimConnect Version incorrect! 29188 Trying another version of SimConnect ... 29297 Could not link to all needed SimConnect facilities 29297 Failed on SimConnect_CallDispatch for Message, return = 0xFF100020This all points to a serious FSX installation problem. You have SP2 or Acceleration installed, but not SP1 -- you must install FSX SP1 first, then FSX SP2, as SP2 is an update for FSX+SP1.The install log confirms this:Checking compatibility with installed SimConnect:... Okay, Probe Manifest matches installed SimConnect 60905 (Original) Found later build SimConnect 61259 (Acc/SP2 Oct07) It should also have found the SP1 SimConnect build, but didn't.As shown in the FSUIPC log file, I did build in code to try to recover from this -- if the first version of SimConnect I try returns an error, I try backtracking to an earlier version. However, it seems that when SimConnect is mis-installed it cannot do this.I advise you to uninstall SP2 (or Acceleration if that is what you tried, and then install SP1 first, then SP2. If you are using Acceleration you should be able to get away with only re-installing Acceleration, as it is supposed to include SP1 too.RegardsPete
