We had an exchange of e-mails some months ago regarding accreditation to FSUIPC of a freeware utility I had written, called Destination Finder for FS9. I am now working on version 2 of the program. Version 2 will use the R5.CSV, G5.CSV and F5.CSV files made by MakeRunways. I have a few questions regarding this, which I would be grateful if you could answer for me.

1. Can I include MakeRwys.exe with my download?

2. Will (as far as you can foresee) all future versions of MakeRwys continue to produce the R5.CSV, G5.CSV and F5.CSV files?

3. Will the format of the R5.CSV, G5.CSV and F5.CSV files always remain the same in the future?

4. I notice that, in FS2002, the G5 and F5 files are empty. Is that how things should be, or has something gone wrong with how I have used MakeRwys?

Sorry for these questions, but I want to ensure that if I upload a program, then it is not going to ruin people’s FS installations.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards

Martin

Yes.

Well, yes, for as long as anyone is using them. They are actually produced for RCV5 which is still in Beta, so there's a long term demand for them in any case.

3. Will the format of the R5.CSV, G5.CSV and F5.CSV files always remain the same in the future?

That is more difficult to guarantee as the prime (and until you) the only user of the files is Radar Contact, and for a version not released yet. Once it is released i would expect no further changes to those files at all.

In the past the only changes have been for ADDITIONAL fields at the end, so if you make no assumptions on the number of parameters per line, only reading what you need, you should be okay.

4. I notice that, in FS2002, the G5 and F5 files are empty. Is that how things should be, or has something gone wrong with how I have used MakeRwys?

MakeRunways only works fully with FS2004 and FSX. There's no way I'm going to backtrack to FS2002 for the new stuff like gates, taxiways and frequencies. Sorry.

MakeRunways doesn't affect any files other than the ones it makes itself.
