baman
Hello Pete, I am a registered user of FSUIPC. I realise before I ask my question that this is not a problem caused by FSUIPC and that therefore there is no onus whatsoever on you to advise, but I am hopeful........ I use AIBlast, a programme that provides realistic AI sounds, spool up, reveresers etc. To this end it works very well. However the support offered by the developer is shockingly poor. I have tried to post on their forum but cannot even register! AiBlast alters the TCASid within FSUIPC.ini from TCASidFlight to TCASidType+. This change means that airline callsigns being announced by PFE (excellent programme) do not work as PFE requires TCASid=Flight to be set. I believe this also affects Radar Contact users too. Is there a way of setting the ini file to allow both TCASid=Flight & TCASid=Type+ to be used? Or maybe some other work around? I did try and read the Advanced Users Guide to FSUIPC but have to say, not having any software writing knowledge or skill, it was above my head. I did note however that one can run two instances fo FSUIPC (again couldn't understand the instructions on how to do this), do you think setting this up might help? Sorry if these are a numpty questions. Thanks My regards Dave
Pete Dowson
Is there a way of setting the ini file to allow both TCASid=Flight & TCASid=Type+ to be used? Or maybe some other work around? Not for a user. Programmatically all the information can be obtained other than through that user facility. I did note however that one can run two instances fo FSUIPC (again couldn't understand the instructions on how to do this), do you think setting this up might help? You cannot run two instances of FSUIPC in one copy of FS! Where do you read such things? All you can do is change the option back in the FSUIPC Options menu. baman
Hi Pete, Thanks for your quick reply. So, if the information is programmatically available other than through that user facility, how do I access it or is that something only a developer can do? Sorry about the two instances of FSUIPC comment (relying on a failing memory), the manual says one can use multiple FSUIPC.ini files. So I was wondering of this would be a work around? Pete Dowson
So, if the information is programmatically available other than through that user facility, how do I access it or is that something only a developer can do? "Programmatically" meant "by program", so if you count a programmer who can write a program to interface to FSUIPC and extract the information a "developer", then, yes, it is what a developer can do -- but it would have to be the developer of TCASid unless you were to develop your own version or get someone else to do so. Sorry about the two instances of FSUIPC comment (relying on a failing memory), the manual says one can use multiple FSUIPC.ini files. So I was wondering of this would be a work around? You can have multiple instances of the INI file loaded at different times by different loads of FS, if that's what you mean -- same as you can have different FS CFGs used in different sessions. If you only want to use TCASid in one session and other programs needing the other data in another session, then you could do that. But it would seem to be easier in that case to set the option the way you want it and perhaps make the INI file read-only so it can't be changed again. If you can still use TCASid with the option set the way it doesn't want it, I could consider and INI file facility to prevent it being changed. But you've missed the boat for the current round of updates. Ask me again in a week or two. Regards Pete
