Cannot install FSUIPC jn fsx.

Recommended Posts

After a reinstall of fsx it is not possible to install my registrated FSUIPC there is a error cannot edit the DLL.XML file to activate Fsuipc,on my first install of fsx there was no problem.

When you run the installer it produces an Install log, a list of what it did and what it found. This is not only shown on screen for you to see clearly, but also saved in the Modules folder in FSX if possible. If it wasn't possible to create that folder you can use the "Save" option on the Log window in order to save the Log where you want.

The reason this log is produced is so that there will be ample information to show why you have a problem! Therefore it is that information which you need to find and bring here, if you want answers.

None of this is in any way related to whether you are going to register FSUIPC -- that comes later, at the end of a successful installation.

Pete

Ok pete here is the log you asking for to see what the problem is.

It looks like you haven't actually run FSX under that user name (Ten Katen) yet, so there's no CFG file for FSUIPC4's installer to know where to create the DLL.XML file needed to make it run.

Best to get your FSX installation set up properly first, before adding anything at all. Set its options the way you like, make sure it all works correctly, then, and only then, start adding stuff like FSUIPC4.

Regards,

Pete

You are right Pete fsx is not running under de user name Ten Katen there is a file called FSX and everthing is in there so I copied all these files to the fsx file under the user name Ten Katen because this was empty then run the FSUIPC installer and everyting seems to be ok also the registration was no problem but then there is no add on menu in the task bar,for your info I am running fsx under a another account as vista.

Below you will see the new log that will give you new information.

Not a good idea to just copy files about, generally. There are several aspects to FSX installation which are only done by the actual installation.

there is no add on menu in the task bar

Task bar? Do you mean the FSX menu, when you press ALT?

Below you will see the new log that will give you new information.

The log simply shows the installation was okay.

Once the installation works, and you run FSX, it is the FSUIPC4.LOG, in the modules folder, which will show what is happening. Is there one? I suspect, if you've been messing around moving FSX files from one place to another you may have a messed up FSX installation. Check for the Log first.

Yes I mean the fsx menu when I pressed the alt button for the rest I checked the moduls folder when fsx is running this is exactly the same as the last one I send you.

I don't no why the fsx installer is choosing for a installation not under my user name instead of making a new map called fsx ,for your info i'am running vista under a account as administrator and and the account for fsx is not a administrator.

Sorry, what, exactly, is the same as what "last one"? You've not sent me any FSUIPC4 log file yet, only the Install log, which obviously never changes unless you re-run the Installer. The FSUIPC4 log file is NOT the installler log file! The FSUIPC4 log file is only produced when FSUIPC4 is run. If there isn't one then FSUIPC4 isn't being run.

The previous install log you showed contained this:

Found FSX.CFG in "E:\Users\Ten Katen\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG"!

Now checking DLL.XML ...

... There is a previous DLL.XML, checking for FSUIPC4 section.

... FSUIPC4 section already exists but will be replaced.

... FSUIPC4 section of DLL.XML written okay

which does indicate that you have, at least once, run FSX as user "Ten Katen". If you had not there would not be an FSX.CFG file for that user. Since you have now installed FSUIPC4 when running as that user, you need to always run FSX as Ten Katen. If you want to also use it as another user, you will have to run FSx then install FSUIPC4 for that user too.

I don't no why the fsx installer is choosing for a installation not under my user name instead of making a new map called fsx

FSX will install for the currently logged on user. If you want to install for a different user you must log on as a different user.

You must run FSX when logged on as the user for which it is installed. Otherwise all of the installation you might ever do is completely to no avail.

for your info i'am running vista under a account as administrator and and the account for fsx is not a administrator.

None of that makes any sense to me, I'm afraid. You aren't running FSX on Vista then, if you are running vista under an administrator account and you aren't running FSX on that account ...?????

It sounds like you should start again. FSX should be installed AND run by the user who wants to use it, not by anyone else.

Regards

Pete

Ok in the modules folder are only FSUIPC.DLL,FSUIPC4 and FSUIPC install present when fsx is running.

What is FSUIPC.DLL doing there? That is only for FS9 and before. Did you put it there? Only FSUIPC4 works with FSX.

And there should be several more files in any case. Please see the Installer log again. It should also have placed all the documentation there too -- the History, the User Guide, the Advanced User guide and the List of FSX controls.

If there is no FSUIPC4.LOG file nor an FSUIPC4.INI file, then FSUIPC4 is not being run. It is as simply as that. And it seems it is not being run because you installed it for someone else, this Ten Katen, instead of for yourself.

Fsx and vista are running on on 2 seperated harddisks that is the reason that I,am using 2 accounts for the same person.

You can have as many hard disks as you like for one user. The number of users and the number of hard disks are not related, they are nothing to do with each other.

I must repeat what I said before. You must install FSUIPC4 using the installer when you are logged on as the person who is going to run FSX. It is absolutely no use installing it for a person who isn't going to run FSX. You are wasting my time as well as your own.

Regards

Pete
