europa345 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 hi actually i have a 737 cockpit and i use PMDG i use just 1 computer and i have moderate frame rates, with the scenery at maximun.the3 problem is when i go to major airports and there are clouds, that the FPS go down to 6. what i would like is to use 2 computers, one for the plane and the second for the views. i don´t know if this is possible using PMDG i use iocards for the cockpit(mcp+efis) engravity CDU 737 FSC throttle goflight radios simkits gauges(speed,horizont,variometer,vor1, adf) my overhead uses usbkeys and is config via fsuipc key trapp what do i have to do? what do i have to install in each computer? thanks in advance Miguel
Pete Dowson Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 what i would like is to use 2 computers, one for the plane and the second for the views. i don´t know if this is possible using PMDG I don't produce any program to do what you wish in any case, PMDG or no PMDG. I think you might be thinking of something more likeWwidevieW, by Luciano Napolitano. That involves having FS installed on both computers, but with then you can have one supplying views and the other used for cockpit panels. If your frame rates are low, check whether losing the outside views saves you anything in the first place -- close the main outside view (right click on it, close). Any difference? If not, then there's not much you can do except upgrade your computer. Regards Pete
europa345 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 with a cessna of default FS with everything to the maximun, with very bad weather i have a medium of 80FPS whni use pmdg and i have in my main view the virtual cockpiot view(that means, only terrain) the frames are about 60.when i put the cokpit view the frames go to the half and when i put the virtual cockpiot view but with the eicas screens in my other moniotrs using matrox the fps goes also to the half. That means, that if 1 computer controls the scenery and another the plane, there would be very good results. isn´t it? thanks miguel

In my experience the use of separate additional windows on separate screens do not much affect the FS performance EXCEPT when you have more than one 3D view in use at the same time. Then the FPS certainly halves, or a lot worse! If you want separate windows for your panels, use the 2D cockpit and undock them. Don't use two windows, one with the outside view (3d) and another with the virtual cockpit, or part thereof (also 3D). If you are using separate windows you may as well use the 2D cockpit windows in any case, and they have much less impact on performance. isn´t it? Maybe, but you have to have two PCs of equal capability each with a full install of FS. Check the WidevieW website. Regards Pete
europa345 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 so, what is what wide FS really do? thanks
Pete Dowson Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 so, what is what wide FS really do? It does exactly what it says it does in the blurb on the purchase site, and in the documentation -- which of course you are free to read as the download costs nothing. It extends the FSUIPC interface for applications to other PCs on a Network, so you can run them there. Plain and simple. Regards Pete
