Can't find the dll.xml

Recommended Posts

I can locate the FSX.CFG file but it can't find it :D

Where did you find the FSX.CFG file? The one in the main FSX folder isn't the one in use. If you've installed FSUIPC4, look in the FSUIPC4 install log, in the FSX Modules folder. It tells you where it found FSX.CFG, and that's where it updates the DLL.XML file.

If you've never installed any DLLs there probably won't be a DLL.XML file in any case. Maybe installing the FSX SDK places a dummy one there, but I'm not sure.

in the appdata/roaming/microsoft/fsx

Okay. So, if there's no DLL.XML and no EXE.XML then that means you have not installed any DLL or EXE applications for SimConnect to load, at least for the current user (the "AppData" folder under Vista and Windows 7 is specific to the logged-on user).

What are you expecting to find? Why are you looking for it?

cause the install says "Problem!! Can't find the DLL.XML check the documentaion and do this manulally"

Which install?

Seems like some context is needed here. Have you any information you are holding back? Like what program are you trying to install? I'm afraid I can neither read your mind nor see your computer from here. If you are talking about the FSUIPC4 installer, show me the Install log which you will find in the FSX modules folder.

Also, if you are talking about the FSUIPC4 installer, there is no message saying "can't find the DLL.XML". It doesn't care at all if there's no DLL.XML, as it creates one for you if there's not one there! I think you are reporting the wrong error and looking for the wrong file! Please be a little more forthcoming and accurate.

Pete

i trying to install FSUCIP4

You are trickling information as if you don't want to provide any. You are wasting a lot of time withholding information all the time! :-(

Now we know what program it is, what is the EXACT error message (it cannot be what you said as that one doesn't exist). And why won't you show me the Install log as I asked?

Looking for the current user's Application Data path:

There's no FSX.CFG file in the correct place for the current user, the one named "Administrator". Do you run FSX under that user name?

You need to install add-on programs when logged in as the user of the Flight Simulator installation. If you are doing so, it seems as if you've not yet run FSX. Else where is the FSX.CFG file?

i found it appdata/roaming/microsoft/fsx

But for which user name? It should be in

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\microsoft\FSX

which is in the Appdata for a user called "Administrator", which is not the user name normal to most if any users, yet it appears to be the one you are using when installing FSUIPC4!

So far I'm afraid you are not making a lot of sense nor reading what I'm saying. Sorry, but it is very difficult to help in this slow trickling way, with me squeezing information out a tiny bit at a time. Can you not open up a bit, read more carefully, answer questions more fully? Please?

Yes, you said that before, a few months or so ago (or so it seems!). But for which user name? It should be in

does it matter if u install on limited account on windows 7? or foes it have to be a admin account?

It must be the same account for which you install FSX. If you are the sole user of the PC you really would be best off just using the PC as the sole user. You will have admin rights in any case when you want, using "Run as Admin". Installers have admin rights in any case.

I think the user actually called "Administrator" is special in some odd way. I can't even access mine. I just installed Win 7 with my name, Pete, and use that 100% of the time. I don't know why you are using "Administrator".

no! i'm on a limited account!!! they have to type password to install programs!

i've got 2 admin accounts on my windows! Administrator and Parents

But you ran the FSUIPC4 Installer under the user called "Administrator", as shown by the Log you posted:

Looking for the current user's Application Data path:

... found as "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming"

You MUST run the installer when logged in as the user who is going to run FS!!
