I purchased and downloaded FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.60a and installed.

Why not download and install, first, then purchase? Seems odd to do it that way round.

I don't see the module pull down box in FS when I run the program.

There's no "module" pull down box in FSX. SimConnect adds a menu entry named "Add-Ons". It would be the right-most entry in the normal FS menu, the one along the top of the screen when you press ALT.

Here is what I get in the install log.

That's fine. Nothing wrong there.

Maybe you are looking for the wrong thing?

Thank you for your quick reply. I'm including a screencapture. There is no menu item called "Add-On" on my screen?

You didn't need to post a picture, you only needed to say so.

It isn't an install problem, though, as the Install log showed. Is there an FSUIPC4 LOG file in the FSX Modules folder? (If you have Windows hiding known filetypes then this is just a text file). If you do have one then FSUIPC4 is running and you have a SimConnect problem. Close down FSX and show me the Log file (you can paste it here).

If there is no log file then FSUIPC4 isn't being loaded, which points to a corrupted DLL.XML file. Show me that. You'll find it in this folder:

C:\Users\Ralph\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX . It is also a text file ahnd you can paste it into a message here.

Have you, by any chance, uninstalled and reinstalled FSX at any time? This does tend to corrupt the SimConnect installation for some reason. FSUIPC4 as well as many other add-ons are dependent upon SimConnect.

Pete

In actual fact he never answered the questions so we don't know what the cause of his problem was. Yours might be different, but the same questions apply to find out. If there's no Add-Ons menu it could mean FSUIPC isn't even getting loaded, but it could mean it is loaded but then has a problem. The difference will be whether there's a Log file or not. And if there is, that would show what is wrong. It would be called FSUIPC4.LOG and be found in the FSX Modules folder. If you have Windows set to hide real filenames from you it will probably just look like "FSUIPC4" with type "text file" or something like that.

Here is my dll.xml file which may be corrupted?

It looks okay, but you could simply delete it and re-run the FSUIPC4 installer to be sure -- there's nothing else specified to be loaded except FSUIPC4 in any case, so that would be best.

Thanks for your quick answer!

I have two files named FSUIPC4 in my FSX modules folder, and as you say, my windows must be set to hide the real filenames, so here is the one which is shown as a text file :

Hope you can find something inside :-)

Apparently, it says that I have an incorrect SimConnect version. I'm sorry to look like I don't know a lot about what I'm talking about, but is this so-called "SimConnect" a software which I needed to download and install first? or is it already included in fsx, and maybe just needs to be updated?

I'm gonna try and see that point while waiting for your answer!

Thanks

PS : sorry if my english looks strange sometimes, but I'm french and it's the first time I'm talking about technical stuff in english :-)

Okay. That's FSUIPC4.LOG.

FSUIPC4 is being loaded. That isn't the problem:

NOTE: SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 is supported, but it isn't installed.

Trying to connect to SimConnect SP1 May07 ...

...

Running inside FSX on Windows 7 (using SimConnect SP1 May07)

5070 Exception 5 "VERSION_MISMATCH", Ref 0, Version 0.60905: Open: SimConnect Version incorrect!

These extracts from the Log show the problem. You FSX installation is a bit screwed up. Either that or you have additional or invalid copies of "simconnect.dll" installed somewhere in your system -- maybe in the Windows folder, or more likely in the FSX or FSX\Modules folder. If there are any, possibly installed incorrectly by another application, then they need removing.

The best solution, however, is probably to update to the later version of FSX, the one with most of the Simconnect bugs fixed -- SP2, or, if you want to pay, FSX Acceleration. I'd recommend downloading and installing the SP2 update and getting your FSX installation up to scratch.

It's included in FSX. It doesn't need updating separately. You have an out of date version of FSX in any case. If you update to FSX SP2 you will get the correct updated version of SimConnect automatically.

PS : sorry if my english looks strange sometimes, but I'm french ...

Don't worry. Your English is excellent. You wouldn't want to see any of my French! ;-)

Alright, thanks a lot for all the answers, I'll try and fix that as you said, downloading and installing sp1 & sp2. The reason why I hadn't done it yet was that I've borrowed the game from a friend of mine, and I had a problem with registering online (although only one installation had been performed before...anyway), so I play with a "cracked" version with which I can't install the SPs so...I think I'll have to buy my own FSX :-)

Thanks again, have a nice evening.

Bye!

Er... yes, I think you should buy it. I really cannot be seen supporting folks who "borrow" (= steal) software!
