FSUIPC 4.6 Win 7 64 Bits Link2fs_Motion for Simulator

Recommended Posts

Hello Pete,

First of all I would like to thank you for all the great support you are providing here online. Good work and congratulations.

I'm facing a problem which I'm not sure where it actually it is coming from?

Start from the beginning;

I have build a flight simulator with 3 axes moving and used example from the page http://www.jimspage.co.nz/intro.htm

I also used the software provided by "link2fs_Motion_v3.exe" , You can download Link2fs_Motion_v3 (freeware) here … http://www.jimspage.co.nz/link2fs_motion_v3.zip

I purchased a specific very powerful PC (Gamer, Quad processor 975 3.33 GHz, 12 GB Ram, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 295) to run the main part of the simulator, which has 3 other PC for cockpit displays and other functions. The main PC was delivered with OS win 7 64Bit and the result was great to run FSX with 3 main display screen. However I never could get to work so far the link to motion with the FSUIPC on this win7 64 bit.

I installed a seconds hard disk to get a second boot disk with windows 7 but 32bit now and everything works fine. The only problem I have with the 32 bit is that FSX is crashing often with "out of memory errors". I did lower the resolutions and other parameters within FSX and he keeps on doing the same things. I did reinstall now 5 times the 32 bit and keep on having the same problems with crashing the FSX, but the motion does work.

Whereas with the 64 bit the maximum performance of FSX can be selected and works for hours without any problems but without the motion on the simulator working.

There is also some information available about extracting data from FSX and some source codes examples for the link2fs on; http://www.jimspage.co.nz/fsxoutputs.htm

As I have seen you had requested in several question within this forum some configuration files which I will send you just below for your help to analyze my problem if I would have some time.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and please let me know if you would need any additional information!

Is there maybe any simple way to test and make sure the FSUIPC 4.6 is already working on the 64bit system without the motion Link2fs software.

I also had made a file log from the Simconnect but it is fairly big file and not sure if it would be on any help for you? Let me know if I also should sent it to you

This configuration files below are from the non working win 7 64bit.

I purchased a specific very powerful PC (Gamer, Quad processor 975 3.33 GHz, 12 GB Ram, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 295)

Nice. Do you overclock that? I have my i7-975 overclockeed to 4.5GHz, but it is water-cooled! ;-). I've only got 6 Gb memory on mine, but as it isn't running much more than FSX that's more than enough. And it is very fast DDR3 2000 MHz memory. I am of course also running Win7 64-bit.

However I never could get to work so far the link to motion with the FSUIPC on this win7 64 bit.

Is it using a serial COM link? My PFC 737NG simulator is linked via an ordinary COM link. I bought a BrainBoxes PCI serial port card to connect it -- BrainBox has had 64-bit Win7 drivers out for over a year now. Otherwise, if you are using a USB-Serial port adapter you need very recently released drivers from the appropriate website. FTDI do most of the chipsets used in those things and their drivers work okay now, but they didn't a year ago when I first changed to Win7 64.

I installed a seconds hard disk to get a second boot disk with windows 7 but 32bit now and everything works fine. The only problem I have with the 32 bit is that FSX is crashing often with "out of memory errors".

It really is not worth going back to 32-bit. Just get the correct 64-bit drivers and go back to Win7 64.

As I have seen you had requested in several question within this forum some configuration files which I will send you just below for your help to analyze my problem if I would have some time.

It really won't be anything to do with any software of mine. There's absolutely no difference in FSUIPC or WideFS on 32- or 64-bit systems. The files you show confirm everything is working fine.

Regards

Pete

Hello Pete and thank you for your quick reply,

As you had mentioned the PC does not need to get overclocked and usually I do not do such things, since it only will give some additional problems sometimes like overheating and blowing up something.

The memorys I'm using are; 12'288MB RAM (12GB), Patriot PVT36G1600ELK, DDR-3 PC-12800, 1600MHz. (6x 2048MB)

The USB to Serial Db9 adapter is working fine and has been tested in the 64 bit envir., besides the application link2fs Motion V3 is receiving and showing the information from FSX with or without the serial port connected in the 32 bit enviroment.

Link2fs Motion V3 Overview ......

This program (Link2fs Motion ) is for "hooking" data out FSX by using the simconnect dll and sending that data out thru a com port. (Serial port)

It is written in Visual Basic 6 and as such uses the FSFDT's teams FSCSC OCX, this saved apparently some having to learn another language. The FSCSC OCX and FSCSC OCA had been provided apparently by http://www.mcdu.com where I could not get any more information about it. Do you know anything about this?

Do you may have any other solution on how I could things moving in the 64bit enviroment? Maybe you have a better solution or application?

I will attach a image with my current setup files (I hope you will be able to get it, let me know please)

I'm sorry to bother you and would like to thank you again for your input!

So it is nothing to do with FSUIPC, or any of my software? Why the title to this thread mentioning FSUIPC 4.6 then?

No, nothing at all. Sorry.

No. I don't know your hardware, I don't have a motion platform, it isn't something I do. Sorry. You need to talk to your suppliers, or at least someone who knows a little about the software you are using. I think you've maybe come to the wrong Forum? :?

Regards

Pete
