FSX & Garmin 296

I would like to connect my Garmin 296 to FSX.

I have seen some of the older posts w/ FS9 using the COM port and GPSout.

Can it be done with FSX and the USB cable that comes with the GPS?

For FSX you do NOT use the separate module "GPSout" -- FSUIPC4 has the GPSout facility built in and available to all registered users. The configuration is done from within FSUIPC's on-screen options, as described in the User Manual.

Otherwise the details will be as in the other threads. I seem to recall that the connection will probably need a serial port cable. From what I've read there I thought that the USB connection doesn't support positional input to that model, but the serial cable allows Aviation mode input (AV400).

I have registered my FSUIPC and have just downloaded the latest version.

I'll check out the manual.
