Panning & Zooming Gone

Recommended Posts

Hello, Peter. I am new to FSUIPC and started really looking at its capabilities while trying to solve a mixture control problem with Accusim for the Stratocruiser 377 from A2A Simulations. One of the forum comments there was that the FSUIPC cablibration of the mixture lever was incorrect. I installed FSUIPC and went to work assigning axes to it and disabling my Saitek controllers in FSX in an effort to see if that would fix my mixture control problem. That seemed to be working, but somewhere along the way I lost the ability to pan and zoom with my mouse and wheel.

I searched this forum and found a few others who had the same problem. I didn't really find an answer, but I did read where you asked the poster why he was reassigning his axes to FSUIPC and not merely using it to calibrate his flight controls. I was a bit surprised at that because the last couple of pages in your user guide contain instructions to use FSUIPC to send control inputs directly to FSX and to disable the controllers in FSX. Are you saying that's not a good idea? Do you think I could regain my panning and zooming capabilities if I set everything back to the way it was? I was thinking of adding a throttle quadrant so I could independently control each engine when flying a twin, but to do that, I would have to use FSUIPC and reassign the two throttle axes to it, right?

I'm afraid that if you opt to disable your joystick controllers in FS it also turns off the mouse facilities. There's no way around that.

However, in general, if using the mouse if important to you, there's usually no reason to disable controllers in FS. Just don't use FSUIPC's Axis assignments. You can still calibrate them in FSUIPC even if you assign in FS -- assignment in FSUIPC is an option, not a pre-requisite.

Instructions for doing what, though? You are quoting out of context. There's a chapter on using axis assignments and a separate chapter on using FSUIPC calibrations. The former has NEVER been necessary to use the latter, and nowhere is that stated! The axis assignments facility was a relatively recent addition. The calibration facilities have existed since FS2000 days!

FSUIPC is a toolkit, like the Swiss Army Knife. You select and use what you need. You don't use everything just because it is there! That makes no sense.

Regards

Pete
