I am trying to set up LWThrottle with FS9 using FSUIPC, and it appears to be normally installed and registered, but whenever I issue the "connect" command to link the throttle and FS9, I get the error message "incorrect version of FSUIPC, or not FSUIPC." The VR Aircraft people and Pete Dowson say they have never seen this and offer no solution up to now. Has anyone had a problem like this with FSUIPC--any suggestions would be most welcome!

Thanks, Herb

I can't tell for sure without a complete FSUIPC log, but the usual reason is either an invalid registration key, or an incorrect system date which makes the key look invalid because it was purchased AFTER "today's" date.

If you aren't even registered then possibly the DLL is corrupted of has been tampered with. A log would show if this is the case.

Hi Pete:

When I open FS9 with the taskbar on top, FSUIPC is up there where it should be. I click on it and it looks fine, all the tabs work, and it says it is registered correctly after the Key was put in. Then I open LWThrottle, FS Control and the Connect command, I get "Incorrect version of FSUIPC, or not FSUIPC. Do you wish to continue?" If I click Yes, I get "unable to open CommPort. The system cannot find the file specified." I've deleted and reinstalled both FSUIPC and LWThrottle, and I keep getting the same error message! Not sure what else to do at this point :(

Seems you didn't read my previous reply, so I'll repeat it:

That's part of the log, with bits missing at the beginning and the end. The first few and last few lines tell me things too. Please don't remove useful information. It also appears to have been tampered with too, because I know there's no mistake in the message:

FSUIPC Key is porvided

Anyway, as it happens the answer looks clear nevertheless. However, here's the big clue:

1828 System time = 01/01/2002 01:35:13

So, it appears that you still didn't read my original reply nor the repeated copy. :-( I'll repeat it yet again with the very relevant part highlighted:

See? You could have checked this very easily and corrected it in a flash! ;-)

Hi Pete:

Sorry about the errors I'm making in my posts. I'm not a computer expert as you can see, and I get somewhat nervous speaking to experts like yourself online to fix a software problem such as this. I corrected the system date, and the first error message ("incorrect version of FSUIPC or not FSUIPC") has disappeared :) However, when I push "Connect" in LWThrottle, I still get the second error message ("Unable to open comport. The system cannot find the file specified."). :( Here is the rest of the beginning of the FSUIPC log that I didn't include before:

***************FSUIPC, Version 3.96 by Pete Dowson******************

Running on Windows Version 5.1 build 2600 Service Pack 2

Verifying certificate for "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\MODULES\FSUIPC.DLL

SUCCESS! Signature verifies okay!

Running inside FS2004 (original release)

Hope this helps. Thanks for being patient with me!

I'm afraid that isn't anything to do with any of my software. You'll have to consult the LWThrottle documentation or contact their support to see how to configure it. I can only support my own programs.

Here is the rest of the beginning of the FSUIPC log that I didn't include before:

which shows you are using version 3.96 which I cannot support. Please update to a supported version before coming back for more help (with MY programs! ;-) ).

I think the bit I highlighted in red above means that you do not have the 9.1 update installed for FS2004, you might find that installing that fixes the problem too, as I think many add-ons don't work with the original release of FS2004.

Ah, well spotted Andy! Thanks.

I installed the FS 9.1 upgrade today and the second error message persists. If you have any other ideas, I would certainly appreciate it!

Whilst you do need to update to 3.98 or FSUIPC, you reported your other problem as:

"I push "Connect" in LWThrottle, I still get the second error message ("Unable to open comport. The system cannot find the file specified.")."

which is most certainly not anything to do with FS or FSUIPC, but obviously some connecting function of this LWThrottle program you are running. Do you know why it wants to use a serial comport? Have you plugged whatever it is it wants to see into your PC, and told it where it is?

You really do need to read the documentation which comes with the "LWThrottle" program, and/or find their support. I have no idea even what it is, but you are asking for help in the wrong place. Sorry.

Hi Andy and Pete:

I had some values entered in the auto throttle servo option (which uses a comport), but I am not using this option in my setup. When I cleared the values, the second error message disappeared! Finally everything is working :D Again, thank you both for all your help!
