FSUIPC4 reporting wrong path to FLT file

Recommended Posts

Hi Pete,

I have the registered version of FSUIPC4 (4.60a) and WideFS7. It appears that somehow FSUIPC4 is getting the incorrect path to where my flight plans (PLN) and FLT files are stored. IYP cannot find the file needed to load the ACARS with the FLT data. Working with Robert at IYP, he showed me that the path is incorrect. We ran the logging function from the FSUIPC Options and Settings panel, ensuring that both Normal log file and Debug String are checked. The offset we monitored was 3F04 (AsciiZ). This is apparently where IYP checks to find the path to the FLT file. Below is an excerpt near the end of the file from FSUIPC4.log.

449236 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 117 secs = 35.0 fps

454010 C:\Users\Mike\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\IFR City Of Colorado Springs Mun to Denver Intl.PLN

517924 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 48 secs = 41.3 fps

698058 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 48.4 fps

758118 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 44.2 fps

818163 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 50.1 fps

878208 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 51.1 fps

938284 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 51.9 fps

998298 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 51.9 fps

1058374 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 51.9 fps

1118403 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 51.7 fps

1178448 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 52.2 fps

1238523 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 52.5 fps

1298568 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 52.5 fps

1358660 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 52.7 fps

1418658 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 52.1 fps

1471854 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 53 secs = 51.6 fps

1539044 Monitor IPC:3F04 (AsciiZ) = [54]"\\MES-ASUS-GM\Flight Simulator X"

1598808 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 60 secs = 42.4 fps

1653237 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 54 secs = 51.4 fps

The second line down from the top (454010) shows the correct path to my Microsoft Flight Simulator X files.

The third line from the bottom (1539044) shows the monitored IPC and offset, where IYP finds the path to the FLT file.

My computer name is: \\MES-ASUS-GM

It seems that the third line from the bottom should read instead of what is shown above, the following: "1539044 Monitor IPC:3F04 (AsciiZ) = [54]"\\MES-ASUS-GM\users\Mike\Documents\Flight Simulator X files"

In other words, the "users\Mike\Documents" is missing between \\MES-ASUS-GM\ and \Flight Simulator X Files

I do not know if somehow I changed this or if it has been like this for some time, or if when I installed FSUIPC4, that somehow I put in the wrong path to Flight Simulator X files.

Robert seems to think that maybe it is a network path or a drive that has been networked causing the problem. I am running FSX, FSUIPC4, and IYP all on the same computer, albeit, I believe IYP is on the C: drive and FSX and FSUIPC are on the E: drive. I would not be surprised at all if the Speech Recognition program in Win 7 may have been on while I was editing FSUIPC4.ini for my Yoke Buttons, and I said something to delete part of a line of text. I have in the past run IYP on a separate computer using WideFS7 as the communications link, but not recently. Could this have caused this problem? What do you suggest I do to fix the problem?

I hope I have provided enough information. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions,

Mike

Please show the BEGINNING of the Log file. That is where all the main information, including the derived paths, is logged.

454010 C:\Users\Mike\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\IFR City Of Colorado Springs Mun to Denver Intl.PLN

1539044 Monitor IPC:3F04 (AsciiZ) = [54]"\\MES-ASUS-GM\Flight Simulator X"

This merely shows that you have shared "C:\Users\Mike\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files" on the PC which is named "MES-ASUS-GM" as "Flight Simulator X". FSUIPC gets the share names from the Registry so that it can make valid UNC names (those accessible to all, including Networked PCs).

It seems that the third line from the bottom should read instead of what is shown above, the following: "1539044 Monitor IPC:3F04 (AsciiZ) = [54]"\\MES-ASUS-GM\users\Mike\Documents\Flight Simulator X files"

No, it will only do that if it cannot find that path in your list of shares.

I do not know if somehow I changed this or if it has been like this for some time, or if when I installed FSUIPC4, that somehow I put in the wrong path to Flight Simulator X files.

If the UNC path is incorrect then it is likely to be a Registry corruption.

What do you suggest I do to fix the problem?

Try unsharing the folder, or if it actually appears to be unshared already (in Explorer), try sharing it and give it a good name. I always use the name "FSPLANS" because a lot of applications seem to expect that name -- Project Magenta to name but a few .

If that doesn't work you may need to repair your Registry. If a registry repair program doesn't fix it, it can be edited. I'd need to know what version of Windows you are using so I can help.

Regards

Pete

Hi Pete,

I think the problem is fixed. I went to the properties of the Flight Simulator X files and it shows that it is shared as \\MES-ASUS-GM\Flight Simulator X Files. I changed the sharing to not shared. I brought up IYP and then FSX. I loaded both PLNs and FLTs. The PLN was shown in the GPS and the FLT information was in the ACARS window. One minor problem. It does not seem to be showing the correct aircraft in the ACARS window. I will work that as a separate issue for now.

Thanks for the help. That was pretty simple for me fix. I wish all my problems were that easy to fix.

Mike

This is what the FSUIPC4.log looks like now that I have removed the sharing on the Flight Simulator X Files folder.

Yes, that looks good.
