Dear Peter

I am not that clever at programming PCs so have purchased your excellent FSUIPC product some time ago and it has helped me run FSX very well. I have upgraded to the latest version and have downloaded the Go Flight DLL utility and it is in my modules folder as I have been running an MCP Pro from Go Flight on my installed aircraft, including some third party panels.

I recently purchased the PMDG 747X for FSX for £44 off Amazon and PMDG now tell me I have to purchase a utility for linking this to my Go Flight MCP PRO for a ridiculous £59. I have looked at the posts regarding your products and it seems PMDG cannot work with MCP PRO without this link programme.

Can you confirm this (which means I will post a message on Amazon to this effect) or if there is a way to link the MCP Pro to the PMDG (they are both on the same PC) then I would be very grateful for simple instructions on how to do this.

Thanks for your help

Using FSUIPC you would certainly be able to program the MCP buttons and switches to operate the PMDG aircraft (even if it means using keypresses or mouse macros), but I don't know any way to get the A/P values out of the gauges to display on the MCP's displays. Maybe by now someone has hacked this, but I'm afraid I don't have any such information. You could try a GF or PMDG forum to see if anyone else knows a way. But I'm pretty doubtful.

I would be also be interested in creating a LUA script.

In this thread http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=80870, Scott has succeeding in reading variables/offsets for the PMDG J41 and I've replied to his thread asking how he found the appropriate variables/offsets on the assumption that if it's possible for the J41 then it should be possible for the 747X.

I have run the script and suggestions in this thread http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=78335 and obtained many variables but with my limited knowledge, these seem to be 'write' variables only not 'read' variables. I also understand that Pete does not approve of PMDG variables/offsets being published here and I respect that view.

It is only FSUIPC offsets hacked from PMDG aircraft gauges while I feel unable to publish because PMDG hold them as confidential and, in fact, deliberately attempted to obscure them to prevent folks, as they thought, taking advantage of all their hard work. Although I disagree with that point of view I have to respect it, especially because the use of FSUIPC offsets by applications is a private and trusted arrangement between them and me.

PMDG aircraft only use FSUIPC offsets on FS9. Their FSX versions use SimConnect and, to some extent, FS "L:Vars" (named local gauge variables). I see nothing wrong with determining the functions of L:Vars and making use of these where they do prove useful, so I am not particularly averse to publication of such findings here.

Good luck!

Pete
