Hello,

I haven't used this forum before but wish to make a suggestion for a future FSUIPC update. I hope this isn't the wrong place to post it.

I use a registered (and current) version of FSUIPC and have manually made an entry in the ini file (for Radar Contact use) as follows:

WhiteMessages=Yes

However, any time that I change something in FSUIPC settings (such as adding a Hot Key), this changes to:

WhiteMessages=No

Is it possible for this entry to be made to remain as entered?

Thanks,

John

It was a bug reported some time ago and fixed in an update, as described in this paragraph of the release notes:

21. An error in the FSUIPC options interface is fixed which would have caused a number of odd problems, including the resetting of the "white messages" option on the Miscellaneous page.

Please do make use of the Sub-forums in this Forum, where you will find much useful information as well as updates and lists of changes and fixes.

Regards

Pete

Thank you. I will re-download from your web page. The version I am using was only downloaded a few days ago.

Sorry to be a pain, but the version currently available (3.98a) seems to still give this problem.

Hi John,

You seem to have missed the part of Petes last post where he said check out the other sub-forums related to FSUIPC, they can be found near the top of the page when you are viewing the FSUIPC main forum page , there is a section called "download links" inside there you wIll find a post dedicated to the latest interim updates for FSUIPC. Please find a link below that will take you directly to the post in question.

FSUIPC Updates

Thank you. Not for me to question, I suppose, but I wonder why the up-to-date version isn't available on the main web page for the software at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html. Being just a general user of the software, I got directed here as it said it was the only means to make contact with the author but I certainly didn't expect to have to spend ages going through a forum I have never visited before to find that what was shown to be the current version on the site actually wasn't! It seems a very complicated way to expect customers to deal with an issue they have identified.

But all now sorted, hopefully.

Best wishes,

John

Because Peter does not own the website where the download is stored, in fact he doesn't have a website of his own, he has no access to the server so he has to pester Mr Schiratti to do it for him. Peter can at times come out with almost daily updates to FSUIPC so those interim updates are posted here on the forum a place where he does have upload access.

I cannot afford the time to make a complete new release package (a day's work in itself) with fully updated documentation (a week's work) every single time a minor change or fix is made. So I post them here. I cannot even access the page you refer to -- it isn't mine but Mr. Schiratti's, and he updates it infrequently, but often enough for the two or three major re-issues each year. And for the vast majority of users the interim updates and fixes aren't of any interest or consequence in any case!

The point of a Support Forum is to support the product, and that is what happens here. That is why I politely suggested that you take a look at the Subforums when or if you ever have a question or problem. If it is not already answered, by all means post in the general Forum.

How do you work that out? I don't know where you are coming from with such undeserved criticism. I provide what must be one of the best support responses available anywhere. The only time I don't respond within a few hours is when I'm away on holiday, at which times I post an Announcement to that effect and others kindly jump in and help.

If you find being referred to a subforum where you can find updates to fix problems such a chore then I really think you must be in the wrong hobby altogether!

I think you misunderstood my comment as your responses don't really seem to relate. No insult was intended. I don't think it was unreasonable for me to expect the file on the main site to be current, but you and others have kindly explained why it wasn't.
