Justin Browning Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Hello, I just purchased FSUIPC4 and WideFS today for FSX and WideClient will not stay connected. It briefly connects (for approx. 1 second) and then says waiting for connection. I have FSUIPC4 registered with they key for WideFS as well on a Windows 7 Home Premium machine and WideClient on a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine. Both firewalls are turned off, and I made sure that Homegroup wasn't enabled on the Win7 machine. I double checked that both computers belong to the same Workgroup. The following is my WideClient.ini: ; PLEASE SEE WideFS documentation for parameter details ; ===================================================== [Config] Port=8002 Window=-4,-4,1032,746 Visible=Yes ButtonScanInterval=20 ClassInstance=0 NetworkTiming=5,1 MailslotTiming=2000,1000 PollInterval=2000 Port2=9002 ResponseTime=18 ApplicationDelay=0 TCPcoalesce=No WaitForNewData=500 MaxSendQ=100 OnMaxSendQ=Log NewSendScanTime=50 Priority=3,1,2 ; ----------------------------------------------- [User] Log=Errors+ ; =============================================== [Sounds] Path=C:\Documents and Settings\Justin\Desktop\WideFS\Sound\ Device1=Primary Sound Driver Device2=SoundMAX Digital Audio WideClient.log: ********* WideClient Log [version 6.86] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 14/04/11, Time 16:14:13.125: Client name is TABLET 172 LUA: "C:\Documents and Settings\Justin\Desktop\WideFS\Initial.LUA": not found 219 Attempting to connect now 765 Server = JUSTIN-PC 781 Trying TCP/IP host "JUSTIN-PC" port 8002 ... 781 ... Pete Dowson Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 765 Server = JUSTIN-PC 781 Trying TCP/IP host "JUSTIN-PC" port 8002 ... 781 ... Okay, IP Address = 67.215.65.132 This looks like another case of the router providing a weird Internet address instead of your correct Server address. In this case that IP address appears to belong to Hostname: hit-nxdomain.opendns.com ISP: OpenDNS, LLC Organization: OpenDNS, LLC Proxy: None detected Country: United States State/Region: California City: San Francisco Latitude:37.7645 Longitude:-122.4294 Area Code:415 I have tried using the IP address as well as specifying the Server Name but get the same results. Where's the log showing the correct IP address? The problem shown in your submitted log is most definitely down to some router or switch setting. Please see the WideFS Technical guide, included in the WideFS.ZIP, and in particular this paragraph 10. DNS systems sometimes give weird Internet IP addresses instead of the correct ones for your Server PC which you'll find in the Notes for trouble-shooting section. Regards Pete
Justin Browning Posted April 15, 2011 Author Report Posted April 15, 2011 Pete, I apparently had two computers with the same name (they were both Win7, so maybe it allows it) and had to remove my OpenDNS section from my router, then physically unplug it. Between that and changing the computer names, the software works great. Thanks.
Pete Dowson Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I apparently had two computers with the same name (they were both Win7, so maybe it allows it) But the two computers involved in the test you showed logs for were named "JUSTIN-PC" and "TABLET". ... and had to remove my OpenDNS section from my router, then physically unplug it. And plug it in again, I hope? Between that and changing the computer names, the software works great. Good. Regards Pete
Justin Browning Posted April 16, 2011 Author Report Posted April 16, 2011 Regarding the two computers with same names, there is another computer on the network (not FS related) that had the same name. But alas, it all works now.
