Hello,

my complete assignments (axis, buttons, switches etc.) are done via FSUIPC. The FSX config is empty.

The most i use the PMDG MD-11 in different Liverys. What is the best way to copy the assignments to all

liverys? For "quick and dirty" flights i fly with Posky self made Aircraft, also in different livery's

and in this case with different AC-names.

Must i assign every axis, button etc. for each aircraft especially or is there a way to copy them?

Thank you for help.

Greating, Joachim

The best way to use FSUIPC like this is to switch to Profiles. Go into the INI file and change "UseProfiles=No" to Yes. Also change "ShortAircraftNameOk=No" to Substring. The latter enables you to abbreviate names to get automatic assignment for aircraft with the sames names bar liveries.

Also update the the latest FSUIPC version from the Download Links subforum. There's an additional facility now which enables you to build a new Profile from an old one, without messing about in the INI file.

I'll probably change the defaults for FSUIPC in the next major release, to assume Profiles and short aircraft names initially if the user hasn't yet embarked upon aircraft-specific settings.

Hello,

works fine. Your idea to list all Aircrafts with profile to copy them is much better.

Example: I load PMDG Lufthansa with existing profile. At next US Airways,

click profile specific, click Lufthansa to copy the profile.

At next British Airways, click profile specific but there is only Lufthansa in the pull down.

Should there not be Lufthansa AND US Airways?

Is it right, when i load different livery's of the same aircraft FSUIPC didn't add

the new livery in the ini- file? Is that the feature which comes up with the

next major update?

No. You created a Profile called "Lufthansa". All the aircraft you add to that profile will be listed under that Profile because you are adding them to it using its name! You should really have thought of a more appropriate name for your Profile, like "TwinJet" or "737" or "PMDG737", whichever more appropriately defines the sort of assignments and calibrations you made for that Profile. Having a "Lufthansa" profile sounds like there are a set of special assignments which suit all Lufthansa aircraft no matter what type they are!

If you want to change that now you'll need to edit the INI file, changing "Lufthansa" to something more appropriate in all the Section headings ending in .Lufthansa]

You merely need to set ShortAircraftNameOk=substring in the INI file, before running FSX, and also edit the aircraft name(s) in the [Profile. ...] lists to some part of the whole name which is common to all liveries. FSUIPC really isn't clever enough to know what part of the name refers to the aircraft type or make and what only refers to how it is painted (how could it?). If the name is "737" it'll match all names containing "737". If it is "PMDG" it'll match all PMDG aircraft. If it is "PMDG737" ... well, you should get the idea by now.

Ah, now i understand it, and sortet the ini file.

The PMDG section has now a profile name which fits to all liverys.

Also done with others, thanks alot for help and patience...

[Profile.PMDG MD-11]

1=PMDG MD-11 Lufthansa

2=PMDG MD-11 Trans World Airlines

3=PMDG MD-11 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

4=PMDG MD-11 McDonnell Douglas

5=PMDG MD-11F Federal Express O/C

For future reference, if you set ShortAircraftNameOk=Substring as I suggested, that could have been just:

[Profile.PMDG MD-11]

1=PMDG MD-11

and covered all liveries in one blow.

Hi there

I have p3dv4 and have assigned all sorts of buttons and axises to TUI NGX.

I have now tried to fly the same aircraft with the Ryan Air livery but none of the buttons, switches or axes work. I understand that I must have assigned the switches using the profiles specific option but how can I copy these assignments over to other NGX aircraft?

I have seen the other articles here, but I didnt understand Pete's comment "switch to Profiles" How do I do that?

Can anyone help. Regards

Are you not using Profiles at all? If you aren't then all the assignments you have made apply to all aircraft.

If you are using profiles and you want to use the same settings for a different aircraft, just clicj the Prifle checkbox and select that Profile in the drop down list. There are pictures in the User Guide.

I think that I may have assigned certain keystrokes etc when i made them in fsuipc. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I thought that it would apply to all pmdg aircraft but it seems that this is not the case. I have tried loading another pmdg 737 but none of the key assignments are there. I suppose I need to know how to copy assignments from one aircraft to another and where these are stored.

Thanks in anticipation Pet

If, in FSUIPC Keys tab, using the review feature on the right-hand side, you do not see any of those keystrokes, then you must be using a Profile for them which you simply have not applied to this aircraft. Just click the checkbox next to where it says "Profile specific" top centre, then choose the correct profile.

If this doesn't work then you have a corrupt settings file (the INI file in the Modules folder).
